Receivers and Audio Components

Here is a unique one for me.  I have an RCA RT2500 surround receiver.  It has been a while since I have used more than two stereo speakers.  Yesterday I hooked up the surround and center speakers to the unit.  The unit will NOT recognize the surround or center speakers, and no matter which surround selection I try (ie Pro-Logic, 3 Channel Stereo, etc.) the unit still displays only the two left and right speakers, and again will not recognize the surround speakers or the center speaker.  I re-stripped and re-plugged both surround wires and the center speaker wire, an

I have owned my Pioneer vsx-305 stereo reciever for about 7 years now and noticed lately that there is no sound coming from the rear speakers.

I bought new speaker wires and swapped all my speakers around and they all work.......just no rear speaker feed what so ever coming from the receiver.

I'm curious as to whether or not this is worth purchasing a service manual for $14.99 and trying to fix myself.......or if it is a lost cause and will end of costing more to fix than to retire it and get a new one.
