Receivers and Audio Components

I have a Pioneer VSX-D1S Receiver. The right channel output is about 1/3 of the left channels. What could be the cause.

I have a new Pioneer VSX80TXV AV receiver that intermittently drops the video from my Bell Expressvu 6100 Sattelite receiver (the audio is connected optically and continues to work fine). I've tried both the component and HDMI connections and even swapped cables in an attempt to isolate the problem. The screen will go blank for 1-3 seconds and come back on, with the LCD TV confirming it's input and resolution status, ie: "HDMI detecting, 1080".

I just got done hooking up my new Denon AVR-1907.  Everything seems to be working ok, but I have no audio when playing a dvd.  I currently only have four speakers, two hooked up to front and two hooked up to surround.  Dvd player is a Sony DVP-NS400D.  I used an s-video cable from player to receiver.  I also used a digital optical audio cable from dvd player to optical-1 port on receiver.  I have picture, but no sound.  I am very new to all of this.  Please help!
