Split Wire Speakers

Hi

I have recently purchased a new tv, which has a a phono connector for the speakers however the previous tv and speakers used the split wire system - Can anyone advise me if the split wire system is compatible with the phono connector and if so how I would proceed to connect them ?

Thanks

Philips powered subwoofer

The power doesn't  come on.  There is a red LED for standby and a green LED for power on.   I took it apart and checked the fuses and they were OK.  When I put it back together it worked for awhile.  I didn't find any loose connections. Could the on off/volume switch be getting hot? It started as an intermittent problem but has gotten worse.  If it is the switch , where could I get a new one?

Computer to surround receiver

I have a compaq computer with a realtek ac97 soundcard. I would like to connect it to my receiver. On the headphone jack it causes a loud hum. I checked on the computer and it states I can do 5.1 out. The headphone out is the front speakers, the mic input is the rear speakers and the line in is the center speaker. I have a Sony STR-DE845 surround receiver with 5.1 inputs. What I want to know is before I buy all these 25ft cables will it work?

STR-DE845

I have a samsung dvd player connected to a sony str-de845 surround system.  I have the coax cable hooked up and everything seems to be working fine. I don't know if the DTS or Dolby Digital is the best way to listen to the audio. I also would like to know if the S-Video is a better choice for the video or just the rca jacks? Is there a disc to help set up the system for the best preformance?

Why do my speakers pop?

Tech gurus...

I have a 5.1 surround setup at home.  My front left tower has been "popping" for a while now.  Every once in a while, there's a medium-volume "POP", with no discernable pattern to it.

LX3000D DVD & Surround Sound System

I have a LX3000D DVD & Surround Sound System, and I am receiving no sound through the 5 speakers and sub woofer. All other features of the unit including the DVD unit function as normal, it's just that the sound comes through the TV rather than the surround system.
