Receivers and Audio Components

I just purchased a new LCD flat screen HDTV and I need some help hooking up the home theater and DVD player, with the cable box. I have a Samsung LN-S3241D. I have a Sony FM Stereo FM-AM receiver STR-DE597, a Motorola Comcast Digital Cable box and a CyberHome Mini DVD Player with Progressive Scan (CH-DVD 300). I need help. My husband is no help. I have  a Sharp CD-DP2500 Mini Compact System that I am unable to use

When I turn it on it come up with a message "PROTECT" on the screen. Can someone help me. I am unable to play a cd or even listen to the radio.

       this is an update to the problem i was having with my amplifier.

      It seems that if you dont use big enough speaker wire, the amplifier somehow cant deliver the power to the speakers, and it shuts down the amplifier. since i changed wires, it has played beautiful ever since.

         if this somehow helps others that might have the same problem down the road, i'll be happy.      thanks for reading.   Dave
