I thought DM board was for Digital Media or something like that.

The board has all those digital inputs on it, I still dont understand why the TV wont work with out this board at all.  I have tried starting the TV w/o the board in it 2x and it just blinks.

My model is 65813. Started the blinking when I tried to turn it on last night. Unplugging it for over an hour and resetting it didn't get it working. Could I trouble you to send me the instructions for the repair? I can solder. [email protected]  . Thank you.

chrisandnat, this DM board

chrisandnat, this DM board communicates with the sets internal microprocessor. That's why if the set is working properly, and you first plug the set in, the light blinks and then stops blinking. When it stops blinking, that means the DM has booted up and is all in sync with the microprocessor and ready to go. If the set does not stop blinking, that is an indication that the DM has not booted up and communicated with the microprocessor. This is the basic explanation, as there is a lot more to it then this.

Gotcha,

As far as I could tell the DM board is not "needed" for standard TV use.  Thats why I figured it could boot with out it.

Larry,  I have the blinking LED problem on my ws65613.  I replaced the caps on the DM board, but problem is still there.  Any thoughts on what to try next?

Could be poor solder

Could be poor solder connections, the power coming to the DM board from the main power supply could be bad. the eeprom could be bad, the power supply or sweep power supply could have bad connections or swollen capacitors. First thing to do is to check all of the plugs, connectors, and connections to and around the DM board. Next would be to check for other large capacitors on other boards with swollen tops. The next thing would be to start checking power supply upon switch on. But first do the diagnostic test as explained in the service manual. Maybe it will point you in the right direction. Other then that my friend, I'm afraid you will need to call in a tech to assist you with this repair.

DLH,

DLH,

Mine wouldn't come on at first either so i went back and started over.  My DM board wasn't completely in place.  I would check to make sure that it is in place.  Just a thought!!

Thanks Garret for the heads

Thanks Garret for the heads up. When you say it was not completely in place, could you elaborate for us?

When i put the dm board in

When i put the dm board in the first time it was with the shield on.  For some reason it must not have gone completely in place.  Second time around put the board in place first and then put the shield on and secured it.

0h OK so you think the shield

0h OK so you think the shield was shorting something? Or was it stopping a plug to go in all the way?

I think that maybe one of

I think that maybe one of the plug-ins didn't go all the way in to make contact

I am also experienceing the

I am also experienceing the green light problem. First time the green light blinked for 4 days, then the TV started working again. It worked well for one week. Now the green light is just blinking again. I took out the board that everyone is talking about and I have the bulging capacitors. I noticed that people at using 1000uf 35 v capacitors to replace the 1000 uf 16v capacitors. Is this safe and what might be the benifits of using the larger voltage capacitors. If anyone can send me material on servicing the Mitsubishi ws-65613, I would be very greatful. Scott Kent. [email protected]

I ordered the capacitors from digikey and replaced the old capacitors. About a minute after plugging the tv in the green light quit blinking. I pushed the power button on my remote and ....... SUCCESS!

Thank you Larry!

65613 about 3 years and 2

65613 about 3 years and 2 months old here and just got the green blinking led today.  I hit the reset button and was able to turn it on again after it stopped.  Turned off and came back later and blinking is continuous now.

Larry,

Could you please send me the docs you have been sending the others to address this problem to [email protected] please.  It would be greatly appreciated.  Have been joking with my wife about wanting to get a big plasma or lcd anyway, but was not quite prepared for that yet.

 chrisandnat,

Great pictorial instructions, just printed them to have on hand when I disassemble it.

Larry,  I am not sure if you send the information along yet, however I have not seen it. If you have sent it already perhaps it got blocked somehow. Either way, sending it again is truly appreciated. [email protected]

Thanks!

I pulled the DM board and

I pulled the DM board and replaced the four capacitors on my 65613 today. The TV blinked for its normal 30 seconds (after power up) and is working great. It sure saved me a bundle !

Thanks to this great website for all the info.

No thanks to Mitsubishi for not even answering  my email to the customer relations website.

No thanks to the repair center for not even calling me back after I left a message on thier stuped recorder.

I can't see ever buying another Mitsubishi TV unless they modify the TVs to have plug in capacitors on the outside front and ship it with a couple dozen extra. The cap problem is far too common and should have been corrected on newer models by now.

Larry;  I've seen your posting and have the same blinking problem.  I've found the dm board and caps and repaced them.  Still have blinking light!  Could you send me the fix documents so I can see if I've something wrong?  Also do you have any ideas why the set still does not work?  I have the ws65513.

Thanks, your postings are awesome!

Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

We recently had a major lightning storm in town and there was a sizeable power surge after a near strike.  A friend's WS-65869 went belly-up afterwards, with the perpetual blinking "timer" light.  It sounds like the same problem that the people on this discussion are having, and it sounds like you have some technical documents that might help me in fixing it.   Could I bother you to send me what you have?   [email protected]   Thanks!

Did the same thing here last night.  So I went back and took the plastic bridge guard off above the board so that I could put the DM in and then put them shield on once it was in place.  It was snug the first time, but it was apparently still missing a contact somewhere.

But still, the set is acting wierd now.  The solder points look clean with a magnifying glass, so I am pretty confident that is not the problem.  Seems like every other time I turn it off it does the blinking light reset thing before I can turn it on again.  It also had some crazy artifacts coming in through the monitor/DVI input and the resolution from the computer that had filled the screen before was now only filling a square about 1/3 the size of the screen.  Have to set it to max resolution to fill the screen.  But even so, the random resetting probably means I will be tv shopping here real soon =(

Larry Dillon said: I have sent you the documentaion you requested, as well as the factory service manual. Good Luck

Larry,  Can you please send me the documentation as well?  My model is ws65613.  My email is [email protected].  My TV started blinking about a week ago and wouldn't quit.  We left on vacation and when we came back it had quit blinking so I excitedly turned it on and it was working.  Unfortunately overnight, it started blinking again.  This seems to be a common problem with this set.

I tried opening Chrisandnat documentation but it doesn't seem compatible with Vista because my explorer just locks up.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

BTW, What IS a good way to clean the lenses?  Any special precautions?  I noticed mine are quite dusty.

I have a Mitsubishi Diamond WS-55813 that started behaving the same waythis morning, it was purchased new in 2005.  The green power/reset light continues to blink but the unit will not come on.  I unplug everything and when I plug it back in the green light continues to blink but never comes on.  Could you please e-mail me the fix? I have tried to open the back cover and remove the dm module. I could not figure out on how to remove it safely. I would really appreciate the help on removing it properly and replacing the capacitors.

 Thank you.

Todd and ggoose, the

Todd and ggoose, the documents are on the way. You can look at the factory service manual I sent to you to see how the front screen comes out so you can clkean the lens and mirrors. Do not spray anything directly on the mirror or lens, spray on a soft cloth first.

Hi Larry, This blog is great.

Hi Larry, This blog is great.  Got a phone quote from a repair company of $350 for the repair.  I have my unit apart and the board out.  The capacitors do not appear to be swollen at all but the tops are a little raised.  I will replace them any way using your directions.  Would like to request a factory service manual from you.  My green light blinks for about 10 minutes then stops.  Starts blinking again in about 5 minutes and repeats the cycle.  The set would turn off occassionally before, but after about 5 minutes would respond to the turn on command.  Now no responce.  My model is the WS-55613.  My email address is [email protected].

Thanks for your help, Paul
