Larry, I fixed my tv after

Larry, I fixed my tv after reading this post http://www.techlore.com/forum/thread/16439/?page=1  and going to HDTVvoice. It was #3 on your trouble shooting list. I removed the DM Module and found the 4 capacitors swollen on the top. I found 4 1000ui 35v volt caps at the local Radio Shack and replaced the old ones. I am very happy that the tv is now working. I couldn't believe how dusty everything is inside after 3 yrs. I am going to vacuum the inside carefully. I can see a layer of dust on the lenses and am looking for info to clean them before I reassemble the unit. I have some pics but didn't know how to post them.

Thanks

I also did the 4-capacitor

I also did the 4-capacitor replacement. I couldn't find the Panasomic 1000uf recommended, but ordered 493-1287-ND from www.digikey.com. These are the identical size of the ones in my Mitsubishi 65613. I found that I had to use a very high temperature to desolder them while wiggling the capacitor. The new ones went in fine. When I powered it back up, all seemed perfectly fine, and the picture was brighter than it had been in a long time (cleaned the lenses while inside the case). A couple of hours later, it suddenly reverted to its former bad behavior by suddenly going dead slient with no picture, but a solid green power LED. I powered it off and back up, and the picture was back, but every hour or so it continues to turn off the video and sound. So, I replaced all 4 capacitors again, with the identical result. Anyone have that same problem? Or know where to go next?

Larry,

Larry,

My Mitsubishi WS-65613 started blinking green this morning and does not stop blinking and I cannot turn it on.

Can you please send me the instructions and service manuals to fix this infamous blinking green light problem. I've had this blinking green light problem before but it would stop blinking after blinking for a long time (30min to 1 hour). This morning it started blinking again but doesn't stop.

Are there any precautions one must take to attempt such a repair other than simply unplugging the unit. I'm sure I can solder the new caps.

Please send the information to: sudheer_v@hotmail.com

Thanks,

Sudheer

He should already know, but

He should already know, but if the set is under a factory warranty, he will have to replace the DM board with one from Mitsubishi. If it is an extended warranty, ask them, if this is indeed the problem to replace them with 105C capacitors. Good Luck.

In your case, when there is a power surge, most likely the DM module or the power supply is at fault. I do not have this model number of set, You can download one from HERE I will however send you the different documents for the different DM modules. Good Luck

Larry,

Larry,

I am also having this problem where the green light just blinks and the tv will not turn on.  I have tried to reset it but it just keeps blinking.  Could you please send me instructions and manuals on how to fix this problem.  I called the place i bought it from and they said that it probably wasn't worth fixing.  I just bought it 2-3 years ago and can't believe that isn't worth anything anymore.  Please send info to gfischer@grandrivercasino.com

Garretf, I have sent you also the documents so hopefully you as well can join in the many here who are saving a ton of cash by repairing their Mitsubishi TV sets by replacing some capacitors.  If you have no printed circuit board soldering experience, do not chance it, take the board to a pro to assist you with the capacitor replacements. Good Luck

Hi,  I have a Mitsubishi Diamond WS-55813 that started behaving the same way today, it was purchased new in 2004.  The green power/reset light continues to blink but the unit will not come on.  I unplug everything and when I plug it back in the green light continues to blink but never comes on.  Could you please e-mail me the fix?  Thank you.

Glad to hear Garret! Yes I always get that response after repairing a TV set and then cleaning the lens from the dust that gets sucked into the TV set like a magnet. You should clean it at least twice a year.

Hi Larry, I guess I am

Hi Larry, I guess I am another "dreaded green light" problem. I have a 65613 with the blinking green light. I am a retired communications tech and will have no problem changing the caps on the DM board. What would be nice before I start would be the instructions for removing the board instead of just "winging it " Could you email me the info like you nicely did for the other fellas ?

Also I'm guessing the DM board is most likely short for "diagnostic monitor" Is that correct ?

To all of you who may be

To all of you who may be attempting the capacitor fix on their Mitsubishi a word of caution. Modern circuit boards are easily damaged by static electicity. Techs in the industry use grounding wrist straps when handling these boards. Simply walking across a room with the circuit board in your hand could damage it. Try to ground yourself to the metal chassis of the tv when touching circuits.Even though the Tv is not plugged in it will equalize your electrical potential. Handle the circuit board carefully by the edges when taking it to your workbench. Try to gound yourself while soldering on the board. I bring this up after reading some posts that stated after changing out the caps they ended up with new or different problems. Thats why you see new circuit boards shipped in the anti static special plastic bags.

thank you Paul for the tip! Yes it is absolutely true, staic can certainly knock out a digital board. Those instructions should be there soon.
