Ok racer, I will send the

Ok racer, I will send the info to you but just make sure you know how to solder and if you do not, and you attempt to repair the board, you will distroy it with too much heat.  What you can do, and a few here have done this, is remove the DM board, mark all of your connections, get the proper capacitors and a repair person will do this for you for a few bucks.  The directions are on their way.  Good Luck with this and ket us know how you make out with this repair.

Hey guys, I've had the green

Hey guys, I've had the green blinking light of death too, and replacing the capacitors on the DM Module *mostly* fixed my problem.  I had previously had intermittent shutdowns and eventually the TV would not turn on no matter what I did.  Reset, unplug/plug in, leave power off for 12 hours, etc., etc.  However, I replaced the bad caps, plugged the TV back in, green blink of death for a minute, and then it stopped blinking.  Press power button and voila!  It came back on.  GREAT!  But the next time I powered it off, attempting to power it back on just gives me the green death blink.  Unplugging the TV and plugging it back in of course gives me the green blinkie for a minute but then I can turn the TV back on after it's done blinking.  So what I now get (much better than before) is one power-on each time I unplug and plug in the TV.  Also, if I wait too long to attempt to turn on the TV after the green light quits blinking (two minutes is too long), it won't come on either.  Just death by green blink.  Any suggestions?

Double check your connections

Double check your connections and make sure the capacitors are good, all four of them, as some folks will only replace the ones that are swollen on the top.  Check all of the other connections on the board. double check plugs and connections.   1-  CHECK FOR 12 VOLTS DC (AC-OFF DETECT) AT PIN 3 OF PC9A21 IF MISSING REPLACE PC9A21 PART # 268P058020 ON THE POWER PCB.  2. SHORT DETECT SHUTDOWN (PIN 13 OF IC700) CHECK FOR OPEN L902 PART # 351P155010 OFF Q904 C (15 V SUPPLY) ON THE MAIN PCB.   2-  SHORT DETECT SHUTDOWN (PIN 13 OF IC700) CHECK FOR SHORTED D913 PART # 264P722010 AND OPEN Z901 PART # 283P039020 (Z905 AND Z900 M.    3-  CHECK FOR BAD CAPACITORS IN DM MODULE.    4- CHECK FOR 10 VDC AT PIN 5 OF IC502 OF LOW, CHECK IC503 PART # 270P704010 ON THE MAIN PCB.   5-  SUSPECT SHORTED WINDINGS OF T5A31 PART # 349P216010 ON THE MAIN PCB.     6- SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT.  7-  SHORTED HORIZONTAL OUTPUT TRANSISTOR.  8-  COOLENT HAS LEAKED ON THE MAIN BOARD FROM THE CRT'S AND HAS DAMAGED THE MAIN BOARD BEHOUND REPAIR.

Lol that's a lot of stuff to

Lol that's a lot of stuff to check.  By the way, I just noticed that pressing the system reset button gives me green blinkie for 70 seconds and then stops and allows me to turn the TV on, so I don't necessarily have to pull the plug from the wall.  If I don't do a system reset, then pressing the power button also gives me the 70-second green blinkie.  However, when it goes out, pressing the power button again gives me nothing.  Dead.  But even at that point, a system reset and waiting through the 70-second green blinks can get the TV back on.  By the way, as I mentioned, I used to have those intermittent shutoffs, but I can leave the power on for days no problem now, and it's been in this quasi-fixed state for several months now.  I really appreciate your suggestions, but is there any possibility of suggesting one that I ought to try first?  Oh, and I'd already heard about #8.  Unless it's extremely subtle, I'm pretty sure that's not the problem.  Also, I did get all four caps replaced, so I'm thinking that I already fixed #3.  I got an expert to actually swap out the caps.  I also double-checked all plugs, wires, and connections on all the boards.  Since the problem is kinda different now, I wasn't sure what to try next.  Thanks for your help!

Double check the power supply

Double check the power supply for the DM board.  I cannot find a copy of service manual as i think i loaned it out and  was not returned. I could maybe guide you in a differant direction if I can get a copy from someone soon.

bjquinn,

bjquinn,

I see you need to cycle the power on your TV.  I can't help you fix that, but while you're figuring out what it is, a remote power control would seem to be handy.  Most hardware stores have a zip-cord with a power switch at the other end.  I've seen them for Christmas lights and such - you might just use the same thing.

Just a thought.

No fix the set or have it

No fix the set or have it fixed my friend, thats a temp fix and will most likely cause more harm then good. How long you think this will correct your problem?

pat_killianey
Larry,

Larry,

I agree the set should be fixed. I didn't realize cutting the power could damage the set. I'm not really sure how that could be, but you're the expert. (I don't mean that like I'm arguing... you really do know more about these TVs than I do.)

I was just thinking bjquinn's situation might be like mine. The wife will put up with a non-working TV in the family room longer than a dismantled TV with parts strewn about. So, in my case, I had to make sure I had enough time to complete the repair project in a timely manner before I started it. That meant I didn't start the repair for 2 weeks. If I could have had the TV working in the meantime by plugging the TV and unplugging it, I'd have done it.

Before anyone puts a DM board

Before anyone puts a DM board in it's best to make sure it's not the EEPRom board that's failed.

Depending on the model, the EEprom board either plugs into the DM board or the main board itself.  BTW, it's far cheaper to replace than a DM module.

Concider it done my friend, BUT you must promise to report back to us and let everyone know of the experience you had and what it took to repair this beast.  Also you must tell all your friends and familey about techlore.com and how helpful we can be. And also about all the great articles that we have posted here.  Good Luck

Lol pat, my situation's not

Lol pat, my situation's not exactly like yours, but I guess it could be similar.  See, I'm engaged and getting married in about 2 months, so I'm really busy and the soon-to-be wife doesn't want parts strewn about.  Close enough of a guess, though!  So unfortunately, meanwhile, I've had to just put up with just power cycling the set.  I've actually started just pressing the system reset button every time, which gives me the same results.  Larry, you mentioned getting back a service manual at some point and that you might be able to point me in a different direction?  Otherwise, do you think checking the power supply on the DM module is my best bet?  Also, for what it's worth, I noticed sometimes that if I didn't unplug the TV long enough for me to hear a little "click" sound of the power coming back on when I plugged it back in, it wouldn't come up.

I too have the infamous green

I too have the infamous green blinking light of death. Please send the detailed DM capacitor changout to [email protected].  I also own a Mitsubishi WS55613 for approximately 3 years, 4 months.

Thank you,

jtonks, I sent you the ifo

jtonks, I sent you the ifo you requested.  Once you get the DM board out, and conferm that the capacotors are the problem, take the board into a repair shop if you have no experience soldering, as this printed circuit board is very fragile and I have seen folks turn a simple repair into a $1000.00 nightmare!  Good Luck, and let us know how you make out with this repair.
