Larry, Would it be possible to get a copy of the manual from you? I also have a Sony KP43HT20 with the same convergence chip issue (i think). I would like a copy of a manual too see if this is something i can fix on my own. My repairman stood me up two days in a row, so i'm inclined to just try and fix it myself. Thanks alot, Mitch B. Please send to: [email protected]
Hi.. I'm working on a Sony KP46WT510 .. got the G and D boards removed.. have to buy a digital multimeter to check the pico fuses.. i know one 5amp is a goner on the G board but still need to check the 3.15amp ones on D board (6 of them).. got some de-solder braid today but i don't think i have enuf heat sink paste (from pc cpu's).. not sure if any of the tips for my solder gun are fine enuf but i guess i'll soon find out.. the prices for the parts from Sony are a lot higher (more than double and triple) than those of others i've seen online.. fortunately they don't have the monopoly? ;P
BTW Happy Birthday Larry Dillon.. you're the MAN!
Well Thank you very much Larry. It is not till Sunday though. I must warn you. The IC's you see a lot less expensive are not necessarily the best ones to buy for your set. As a matter of fact, if you purchase the inexpensive ones, you are most likely buying the aftermarket types made in China, or the factory rejects IC's. All IC's are not all alike, even if they have the same numbers on them. Go to http://www.electronic-repair-kits.com/index.html to buy the IC's. I know they are original Sanyo IC's. A very important thing. Don't be fooled by a lot of sites that say they have original IC's
Black88, there is a free download available here on the techlore site for that Sony service Manual. Go to resources at the home page, then click on technicians corner. Then see the service manuals that are uploaded to the thread. Or go to http://www.techlore.com/group/2/list_downloads Good luck
Larry can I get a copy of the service manual for my KP-51WS510? I'm new to this site and appreciate all of the helpful information that this site contains.
Larry,
Do you think could write a small program that automatically posted the link to the download page for the manuals every 2 hours or so? And while you're at it, maybe send a small electrical shock through the keyboard of anyone who ask you to send them a copy?
LOL, Ihave found a lot like to ask without looking or reading on the page. If they read a little, they would learn a lot amd also get what they wanted. Thanks again for the help.
Hi very useful thread. Larry or any other member If read this can you send me service manuals for my kp51ws510 tv. I am trying to fix convergence. left side looks real bad. thanks. My email is [email protected]
Thanks for the copy of the service manual Larry. I guess if I had read further, I would have seen that you have a link to the downloads.
Anyway, I ordered the ICs stk392-560 and they should arrive Tuesday. I hope it is as easy as it sounds!
Hi Larry, I'm new to this site and appologise for any repeated question. I have a Sony kp-65wv600 and have shadow on 3/4 of my screen. Can I get a service manual for this model. Would this classify as the similar convergence, IC, fuse replacement issue ? Thanks
Im also having same issue with my KP51WS510 tcconvergence and read most of the threads over here. i havent ordered the IC's yet cause i havent seen the board if its hard to solder on it. I have some sort of knowledge on how to solder but im pretty comfortable doing it so. My question would be, is it better to replace the ic's or replace the whole board? And where can I get the ic's and board if I decide to go that route?
I doubt you can even get the entire board. These sets are considered old already . You can get rebuilt boards but they are nothing more then used boards that were repaired. I would replace the IC's as on another board, you never know if you are going to get someone Else's problem or not. You can have your board rebuilt AT ptscorp.com.
Larry and other members just want to thank you guys for the help. I am able to fix my sony tv by changing the both stks. Had no clue until I read about it on this site.
Hey Larry, first off I just wanted to say thanks for all the support you've given. I read through all of the forum and decided to go ahead and do the repairs myself. I have no experience in TV repair, but I do have a little solder experience while I was in school. Anyway, my question...when removing the high voltage cable on the D-board from the TV block, is that wire live, and do I need to do anything to discharge the voltage on the TV? Can I just unplug the TV from the outlet? Are there any other precautions I should know about before removing the D and G boards? Thanks for your advice. Hopefully I'll get my pico's and IC's this week.
Hi Larry, I seem to have c problem with convergence on my Sony KP-61HS30. I was reading your other thread and wanted to try using the manual alternate to using the "Flash" function on the TV because the FLASH option didn't seem to fix it.
However, since the original remote got lost and I replaced it with a Sony RM-V230 which does not have the "Display" button on it, I can't get into the Service menu. Any other alternate ways to get into the service menu using either the buttons on this remote or those on the front of the TV?
I just opened up the back and have located the STK 392-560 IC's.
However I found 3 yellow pico fuses per IC under the overhang of the Heat sink and don't know which ones I'd be changing in case I have to change the IC's and the fuses. Should I check all 6 fuses and just change the ones that are busted or should i change them all just to be safe?
Sorry if I sound a bit clueless but this is new territory for a med student like me. I have some experience in soldering and stuff so i should be ok about that part ( once i locate what needs to be changed on the board).
Thanks again for all your help. You saved all of us a ton of $$!
Larry, my son has a Mitsubishi rear projection tv model wt-42311 that blows the 125 volt 5 amp fuse F9A05 when he turns the set off or it could be when he turns it on. The tv will be working fine when he turns it off then when he goes to turn it back on, it doesn't work. A check of the power supply reveals the 125 volt 5 amp pico fuse blown.
Do you have any suggestions?
hi lary dillon could you please send me a manual for sony kp-51ws510 so i could do the proper convergence. thank you so much i am new to this group. i worked for rca and philips
Are you trying to adjust the convergence? Why? Did it go out of alignment? The service menu is NOT the problem you have then with the convergence adjustment. If the convergence goes out all of a sudden, you have a convergence correction problem. Most likely the convergence amp IC's are bad. You can try and adjust the convergence till your blue in the face but it will not do any good until the IC's are replaced. If you try and adjust it now, you will have one heck of a time getting it back in alignment when the set is fixed. If you do make any adjustment, write down the old values so they can be re-done. That manual is available for a free download through techlores technicians corner located in the resources tab on the home page or you can click to it here. http://www.techlore.com/group/2/list_downloads Good luck
Hello guys!
I have a convergence problem on my Sony KP-53S25, could someone e-mail me a copy of the service manual to [email protected]? Or please tell me what kind of STK IC's this system needs?
I just replaced the STK392-560 IC's amd checked the pico fuses. I turned the TV back on and the convergence problem is still there. plus the picture is a bit warped now. Any suggestions? Using the Flash function didn't do anything. Also, because I don't have the original remote, I can't get into the service menu using the instructions in the Manual. Any alternative ways to get into it? How do I reset the convergence and the picture "warpness"?

Remove the wire and without touching it, ground the wite to the chassis around the picture tubes.

What ever you do, do not try and adjust the convergence before you change out the IC's. You'll never get it back right if you do.
You are going to need to get a meter and check the continuity across the pico fuses. Don't forget the two located on the G board.
