Funny you mention that... I was wondering where the damn fan and light bulb was...Craigslisting a pro for 150$ (I have replaced capacitors on computer motherboards and fans in power supplys, can you suggest a good genral primer on de-deathdefying one of these power boards...) In the mean time I tought I saw some really crispy looking black thing on the middle board...Gonna check the schematic...back with more...Thanks, G
You could always send the board for repair to ptscorp.com. I have always had good luck with that. Go to their web page and get the toll free number. In those sets, it is mostly the G board or the D board that goes bad. But you really should trouble shoot it first to see where the problem is.
Yea I am pretty good with the multimeter and resistors are cheap, that power board looks scary though...capacitors look good might get some really good kitchen gloves to pull...more soon maybe even video...ok repair site http://www.protech2u.com/articles.html
Larry Dillon said: I sent the manual to you. it is the same chassis number for your TV set. Thats the RA-6. good Luck
Hi Larry, could you please send this manual to me also for the KP-51ws510, I loaded pando. Thanks Larry. I have the same convergence problem, the blue gun will not adjust, blue pin cushion off also.

So reading the manual it says to check the a and b board's ? but I see g and a boards alot in forums(as well as your advice),6 blink: manual says + 5 line overloaded or shorted a or b boards low b ocp ovp... cool cause g board looks expensive...reason why it would be G? Will get to it after I get my clutch buttoned up in my Jetta, just thinking before tinkering, wish I had fixed to wach ducks today :) go ducks!
I have had all three boards cause this problem man. The diagnostics in this set and the manual are not always accurate. You will need to start replacing board, and that could be expensive, or start trouble shooting with a meter and a service schematic.
can someone send me the service manual for sony KP-51WS510?
I have a sony KP-51WS510 and some service man tried to fix it by replacing the IC's, but he didn't put the right ones in there. He trew my original ones away and he didnt fix the problem. He left his IC's ( NOT my originals) ones in there. Now I want to try replace them myself, but I dont know which ones to order. He trew my original ones away, so I dont know the right IC number. How can I find out ?

Hi,
Where did you purchase the IC's? How much do you pay for 2 IC's? Maybe one of them is default.
I know, I do not understand what happened here. Download the KP51HW40, it is the same chassis the RA6 number except it is missing the A, should be close enough and it should get you what you need. Good Luck
hi i have the sony kp-51ws510 also. How do u adjust the convergence problem manually. I have a problem with the screen, it doesn't aline with the picture. Can you send me the service manual for sony kp-51ws510. Thank you in advance for all your help. I really don't want to spend more money on this tv. Thank you for all your help
can someone please help me. i have a sony projection hdt (kp-46wt510). i paid a hundred dollars for some tech guy to look at for two seconds and tell me that i need to replace the d board which is $150. I said to him "awesome," until he told me labor would cost another $450. I don't have the money so i'm trying any other way to fix it. I'm pretty stupid with handyman type stuff, but i replaced the screen when my crazy x girl put a comb threw it,so i'm feeling a little optimistic about finding a way to fix it. if someone could help i would really appreciate it. even if they would fix it cheaper for me or give me tips how to find and replace the d board. i live in port richey fl. near tampa. thanks, russ
Hey Larry- I have a Sony KP-57WS510 Projection TV that has a convergence problem - I ordered new IC's for it through a link provided by you - I received and replaced them today and the picture is doing the exact same thing as before.
I saw somebody wrote about pico fuses - do you think these need to be replaced
and if so what board are these on? Also where can I get them from?
If you think it maybe another problem please let me know this also.
Thanks in advance!
Yes Yes Yes, I have said this a dozen times if not more. Read the threads man! There are 13 pages that explain this in detail. The pico fuses are located on the convergence board, as well as on the G board. The board markings for these picos start with PS.
Take a digital multimeter and check the resistance on the picofuses. If you find that one is not a dead short, replace it. I only had to replace one, on the 22v line in the 'G' board. If you don't replace a bad fuse, it'll be like you never changed the convergence chip, because it won't have power.
