Speed said: Larry, I now have the Mitsubishi WS-65813 television up and running. The "blinking green light" issue has been resolved. Lesson Learned: For your information and others, after replacing the 4 capacitors on the DM Module, I slid the DM circuit board back into the metal DM case and then inserted the entire unit into the main circuit board. This was working in the "blind" as it was impossible to verify a proper seat of the DM circuit board onto the mother board.  The blinking green light was still present upon power-up of the TV. I again removed the DM module from the TV and this time I re-installed the DM circuit board onto the main mother board and THEN installed the DM metal case over the top of the circuit board. By doing this, I was able to ensure a proper connection of the DM board. Upon power-up the TV is UP and RUNNING. Thank you for your assistance. Speed

This is not the blinking light I was thinking of for a holiday celebration. However if you would be so generous to share the instructions for repair, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, B.

Success...Woo hoo! Got my

Success...Woo hoo! Got my 65813 back up and running today. Replaced 4 caps on DM board with P113121-ND caps from digikey.com. Thanks for the instructions, Hogan!

I followed Chris and Nat's instructions but do have a few lessons learned for those w/ 65813s:

Removal of lag bolts in step 1 (pg 3) was not necessary. These bolts actually hold down the frame out of which the main board tray slides. I did have to remove 3 screws, not 1, that secure the tray to the frame of the TV as shown on the top picture on page 4.

I removed all the screws per the instructions, but simply couldn't get the darn DM board off DTV-Tuner board. I was able to get the DM board shield/cover off, but the DM board didn't want to go anywhere. I instead had to remove the entire DTV-Tuner board with the DM board still attached. This entailed unplugging the three connectors along side the DTV-Tuner board and one larger connector towards the rear of the DTV-Tuner board along with a single screw from the right rear of the DTV-Tuner board that secures it to the main board tray frame. I also had to remove the plastic bracket that's just to the right of the firewire port on top of the DM board, which allowed me to then tilt the entire DTV-Tuner board slightly to the left and out from the plastic lips holding it down. As a matter of fact, if you look at the last picture on pg 8, it actually shows the DTV-Tuner board with DM board attached.

I recieved the info from

I recieved the info from Hogan to fix my Mitsubishi 65713 green blinking light of DEATH. I followed Chris and Mat's directions which were great. I had to remove a lot more wiring then shown to pull out my base. It's a good idea to take pictures as you proceed so that when you reassemble everything you can refer to them. A desoldering tool is a must.Make sure when you solder caps back in that solder does not get away from pin. Radio Shack had the capacitors. When I turned my TV back on it took about 90 seconds for the blinking light to go out. When i turned the TV back on it worked. Thanks Hogan.

I just wanted to say thanks

I just wanted to say thanks to Hogan and Larry. The diagram was awesome. I have the WS - 65813 Mitsubishi. I had the blinking light for months. It is now fixed and my wife thinks I am a hero:-)

I think the key learning experience is to note you really need to first loosen and slide the entire lower back board out several inches before attempting to pull the DM box out. As well, you don't have to pull a ton of wires out if you loosen the wire from the white/clear loopy ties they have to hold you wire down. Note: If you have below average memory please take a picture:-)

Other than that, if you follow the diagram sent by Hogan and Larry you will have no problem. This is a really easy fix. For the record, I hadn't used a sauder gun since my high school electives class - 20 years ago. I bought an iron and did it all my self in about an 1 hr. Not counting my trip to Radio Shack.

Thanks again to everyone for the help. One last question????????? Has anyone ever changed the screen out on one of these TV's?

Larry,

Larry,

I have a WS-65511 with the blinking green light problem. Could you email the instructions to fix this problem? I'm assuming I have bad capacitors caused by over-heating.

Thanks!

Hi -

Hi -
After reading through these posts it appears that I am in for the same repair of replacing the caps. The tv started the blinking green light last night and the system reset did nothing. Could someone please send me the instructions for replacing the caps on a WS-55613.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks to Paul, D Ambrosio,

Thanks to Paul, D Ambrosio, and Larry for sending some really detailed info on fixing the green light problem! I ordered the caps from Digi-Key and everything works fine. Some comments:
Get the 105 degree C. caps unless you want to do this again in 2-3 years.
You will need to unhook wires from their wire ties to pull the chassis out.
When you put the DM board back, be sure to seat it before putting the shield in place. I put both of them in at the same time, then pulled the shield case up 2 inches to make sure that the DM board was seated.
It appears that Mitsubitshi did not do a proper thermal design of the DM chassis. Shame on them. Any EE should have known that heat buildup inside that box would be a problem. Otherwise, the TV does an excellent job of displaying HD content without the pixelization issues of flat screens.
