Larry,

Larry,

RE:( If the TV does NOT blink or show any problems when the volume is turned down all the way, most likely, this is not going to be your problem. But if the set only acts up with the volume turned up,  there is a capacitor, C9A58 in the main power supply that needs to be check and replaced. This is your 17 volt line that is feeding the b+ to the audio output IC. The Power supply is on the same board that has the convergence ICs on them. This IC is standing up on a heat sink and is marked on the board as being IC3E01. If you change the capacitor, and the same problem occurs, replace the audio output IC. First though, measure that 17 volt line with the volume down, then with the volume turned up a bit.  Make sure none of the speaker wires came off and are shorting against anything, as this would also cause your symptom.)

What size is the  C9A58 capacitor? What IC IC3E01 do I need to purchase as well? I wish to order it before I do the work.

The sound can not be turned up or down with the remote control  now. It is at one level.. barely audable. If I try to manually turn the volume up from the tv it blinks then goes down to the low level.

Please help obe wan kenobe...

Hello, I have read all the

Hello, I have read all the posts regarding the "infamous green blinking light" and all I can say is HELP! I too have that problem.  I have a 65" widescreen Mitsubishi projection tv.  Can you please refer that info to me at [email protected].  Much appreciated.

Todd, you need to

Todd, you need to troubleshoot the set I'm afraid. Go by what i have told you. Those parts I said MAY be bad, not for sure. You need to do some voltage measurements. If this is something you feel uncomfortable with, I'm afraid you have gone as far as you should.

Larry,

Larry,

I do have a meeter.  What size is the  C9A58 capacitor? What IC IC3E01 do I need to purchase as well? I wish to order it before I do the work.

Thanks!!

Larry Dillon
It might not be your problem

It might not be your problem man. test the voltage first and find the capacitor in the power supply. Thats not how you repair a TV set by replacing parts to see if that is the problem. If you do it this way, you will spend 100 times more then if a pro did it.

steve16
What voltage should I test

What voltage should I test for on each?

Larry Dillon
Check the 17 volt line and

Check the 17 volt line and the 22 and minus 22 volt line and the 135 volt line. all in the power supply. Make sure one or all do not go up and down drasticly when you turn up the volume.

Porsche356A said: I also did

Porsche356A said: I also did the 4-capacitor replacement. I couldn't find the Panasomic 1000uf recommended, but ordered 493-1287-ND from www.digikey.com. These are the identical size of the ones in my Mitsubishi 65613. I found that I had to use a very high temperature to desolder them while wiggling the capacitor. The new ones went in fine. When I powered it back up, all seemed perfectly fine, and the picture was brighter than it had been in a long time (cleaned the lenses while inside the case). A couple of hours later, it suddenly reverted to its former bad behavior by suddenly going dead slient with no picture, but a solid green power LED. I powered it off and back up, and the picture was back, but every hour or so it continues to turn off the video and sound. So, I replaced all 4 capacitors again, with the identical result. Anyone have that same problem? Or know where to go next?

I'm experiencing the same problem as Porsche.  I've replaced the 4 caps and the set will display a picture and produce sound for a short while before the picture and sound disappear; however, the green light stays on and is solid.  Anyone experience this problem?  Wishin I was as lucky as most of you and been able to fix the set by replacing the caps.

Papa andVan, I have attached

Papa andVan, I have attached the documents you should need to attempt the repair of your TV set. I have also attached the original factory service manual so you can see ho the set comes apart. Good Luck with your repair.

raven, I am sorry the repair

raven, I am sorry the repair did not go as expected. There are many factors involved when doing this repair. There could be adittional bad capacitors in the power supply, or perhaps a problem with the power supply regulation. These are things that a novice would not be able to repair and these should only be handled by a pro.

I finally invited a TV repairman in, and using a spray can for localized cooling when the sound and picture went away, he found a failing $20 IC in the power board. The invoice for this shows IC9C25, a 9-volt Regulator as the culprit. The specific part number is 270P677030. The total cost, including hauling in my 53" HDTV to their store, diagnosis, and parts replacement (desoldering the old part, replacing it with the new part) was $333. Good luck! I wish I had bought one of those cans of spray coolant; I certainly could have replaced it myself! The part is probably a $3 or less part. But, hey, I just love that 53" screen!

Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

Last night we turned on our WS-65813 to discover the blinking power LED problem.  It is constant now and the unit will not power up.  Is the BlinkingTV.pdf from [email protected] sufficient in making this repair?  Should I request the complete service manual as well like others have done above in case there may be further problems?

My email is [email protected]

I feel very confident this fix is simple - my wife is excited to help with this today so we can get our picture back!  Then I may give this set to my parents and get me something larger but less deep ;)

Jon, I sent you the info you need to work on the TV set. Look at everything, take the back off of the TV set and decide what documents you need for your TV set. Good luck

Larry,

Where could one get this spray can for localized cooling ?

MCM electronics. fox

MCM electronics. fox electronics, Some radio shacks may even have it.

From what I gather one needs

From what I gather one needs to spray a component and see if the volume level is normal going one by one until I find the culprit? What is the exact name of the spray product?

Thanks

Larry Dillon
Freeze spray, I use one made

Freeze spray, I use one made by chemtronics. This does not alway find your problem however, only on sets with problems when you first turn them on then the problem goes away when the set warms up, or with a problem when the set warms up, a problem happens.

 I have the infamous blinking

I have the infamous blinking light on our WS65613. This sure sounds like a manufacturing flaw. I don't belive I have the skill set to solder on a board. We are in the Denver area. Does anyone have any recommendations on a service shop that is compenent that could perform this repair at a reasonable cost?

Thanks

Wow, I can't believe how

Wow, I can't believe how widespread this problem is!

We too discovered the "Terrible Blinking Green Light of Death" on our WS-65813 when we got home from work.

Is it possible to get the repair procedure and service manual from you, as well, Larry?

Thanks in advance and I'm glad I found this site!

I'm confused where exactly

I'm confused where exactly they're saying this is:

"While you have the board out, check with an ohm meter, the two surface mounted fuses on the side of the DM board opposite the capacitors. They are F9B00 and F9B02"

So what side exactly would that be?  The same surface?  Or the soldering side?  Confused...

DOHHHH!  It works!  I forgot

DOHHHH!  It works!  I forgot to put back in the darn PWB-DEMOD card!!!

OK now to find the info on what is the right cleaner to use on the crt lenses and the other surfaces!
