Video Playback / Recording Devices

I recently bought a LDA-730 DVD/XVID/DIVX player for really cheap and am wondering if it will play 5.1 surround sound. It has Digital Optical Out and Coaxial Optical Out. However, I can't seem to find anything that says it definately plays the 5.1 audio track. Does anyone know? I have always assumed that if it has digital out it will play it.

I have a tocom 5503vip cable box.  Some of the channels are displaying a flashing letter P and then the channel # with no picture or sound.  I never set a parentla control on the box.  How do I get this removed or is there a universal code to try?  Please help reset this box.

 I have a Sanyo DVD recorder.  It plays but wont record. I put in a dvd to record and it says "no disc".  I cant setup the record until it recognizes the dvd. I have tried different ones no luck. It used to work and then started to make clicking noises when you put in blank dvd.  Help
