hello kind sir larry, i have a mitubishi VS-50607 that turned off tonight and won't turn back on (green power light flickers on and off when power is pressed). prior to this complete shut down, the past couple of months the tv would take about 5 to 10 minutes to warm up (picture was very dark with a slight squiggle across the top of the screen) but once it warmed up the picture looked great! any help manuals or docs would be greatly appreciated, so much so that i'll name my 1st born larry! :) [email protected]
Ive been reading the posts here and noticed your pretty dam good with Mitsubishi's and was wondering if you could help me out . I've got a ws-65907 at first i couldnt get it out of short protect i replaced some fuses , the stk's (they were used but its all i had to test with ) and now the picture displays w/menu but its a little scrambled any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
x_griffter_x What I would suggest is NOT TO BE CHEAP! Replace the convergence IC's firstwith new ones, then open the DM board and replace all seven of the power supply capacitors inside the DM.
I have a Mitsu Medallion, WS - 65819 I was having convergence problems where the red would seperate from the other colors giving the 3d effect. To fix it I would just lightly smack the side of the TV and it would pop back to normal. Last night I did this and the TV shut off, now when I turn it on it clicks on then off. I did the error source code reading and I got a 2 - 2. Can you tell me where I should start in fixing this problem? I am on a pretty tight budget. Also I am pretty tech savvy so any pics or leads will be most appreciated!
First off let me thank you for repsonding so quickly , secondly it would appear that this model doesnt have a DM as far as i can see , unless you can point something out that i didnt see . i'll put some new stk's in and see , and if there is no DM would you have any other suggestions. also when i put the old STK's in the convergence wasnt off , the picture just had scan lines running upwards and the menu wasnt completely clear .
Silvercan5, You could have re soldered those bad connections on the printed circuit board but it is too late now I'm afraid. you will need to replace the convergence IC's There are two of these IC's and they are the STK392-570. Both need to be replaced at once. Do not buy the cheapest ones you can find as most of those are after market or factory rejects. If you can solder, you should be able to do this job yourself and save about 300 bucks or so. Good Luck
Thank you. I no longer have any of the mauals for this T.V. set. If there is any way that you can pm me a copy of the manual that will show me exactly where the IC's are I would be in your debt my friend. Thank you once again!
Ok Larry I just stumbled across this board and you appear to be "The Man". I have a VS-45609 with what appears to be a convergence problem (Blue rainbow on top 2/3s of screen, poor color quality) it happened without warning a few days ago. I pulled the back off trying to locate the convergence I/C's but cant find them. Can you help me with locating them? If I can get that far I can order the replacements and install myself (Didnt get much out of 3 years of HS electronics but at least I can solder well). Do I need to check and/or replace anything else?
CT, I do not have that service manual to assist you. You can however download a copy of it HERE for 17 bucks or so. if you decide to get it, contact me again and I will see what I can do for you. Good luck
hey larry, my Mits VS-60805 is still showing the same symptoms. In the beginning the TV screen/picture would get distorted and become completely black but the sound of the channel i was watching is present. so, i pluged the tv off and than on in 30min and the TV screen/piture came back on but only for 5min and than blacks out again. i checked all the fuses and they're all good and also carefully replaced the original Sanyo IC's from the website you gave us and put a good layer of heat sink compound. and still the same. when i change the input channel the TV screen/picture becomes all blue. i am not sure if that means that the lamps are still good? what else should I look for next?
JJ here again. I am about to replace the pico fuses on the power supply board in my WT-42313. My question was whether or not you can lay the whole CRT/circuit board structure on its back, where I can carefully resolder without removing the power board? Will tipping the whole setup back potentially result in a leaking CRT? Or could this damage the CRTs in any other way? I certainly do not want to make a bad probablem even worse.
I looked in your dictionary and I couldn't find a def fo "IC" - isn't that rich? Anyway, where are the fuses for my Mits vs-60805? I found the IC chips, thanks!
First, I would like to thank you for your help with my blinking green light syndrome on my Mitsubishi
With your help, replacing the capacitors was a snap. Unfortunately a good friend has asked if I could help him with his Mitsubishi (Model#WT46809)as well. he is having problems with the screen bowing on top and bottom and also getting erratic colors in the picture. After a little research i believe the Convergence IC 801 and IC802(part #STK 392-570) and a few pico fuses could very well be the culprit. Would you possible have a service manual for this model and do you believe I am on the right track. Any help would be appreciated
Larry, I have a Mitsubishi WT-46807 and cannot locate the convergence ICs listed (IC8C01 &02). I removed the rear panel and have the board chasis slid out. Where are these little buggers hiding? Are they on the main, power or signal board? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I hate to sound dumb on this but I have a WS-A65 and have heard that there are some upgrades to the TV to bring it up to newer standards and also increase the longevity of the TV. Please if you would explain this IC unit. Thank You
To tell you the truth my friend. I would replace the IC's as if they got hot enough over time, and they do get very hot, They will be failing very soon. Replace them while you still have a good TV set. It will save you a lot of troubles in the end.

Larry, just to let you know. I bought my A65 from a friend. He sold it to me for $400 because having deeper pockets then me, he bought a new 65" plasma. OK, when I got the monster home and hooked it up to may cable through the DTV connections there was a greenish tint to the whole picture on every channel. I asked him about this and he sajd that's why he sold it so cheap. I then reconnected my cable through one of the other HD (5 plug) connections and it's perfect. So now my only problem is that I do not have a users manual for the TV. I have been looking online for one which is how I got here.
Having no luck with the A-65 manual quest I did see a couple people had compared the A-65 with the WS-65311. Some saying they were identical. So my next question(s) is 1. As far as you know is it true that they identical and if so could I use the WS-65311 manual to figure out how to change the IC or do I need to get a service manual for the A-65. I also saw some posts about an A200 module or something like that. I hate to pound you with all these questions but you seem to be very knowledgeble about this.
Hey Larry i have a convergence problem on my old WT-A42 and plan on replacing the IC's would you happen to have a service manual for this model by chance?
thx much
Hello Larry, I have a Mitsubishi WS 65869 that used to have the blinking green light. When I changed the DM board capacitors my symtoms changed. Now after pluging in the power the timmer will flash 70 sec then stop. When I power up the set the relay justs cycles constant ,clicks on and off on and off...all while you can hear the whineand HV static in the Flyback.
All the Standby and Switch powers are normal.
I went ahead and changed the HV out and Horizontal out Transistors along with the convergence IC. and tested surounding components.
when I powered it up it was doing the same thing. I then started to to make a video if my TV symtoms to show you when the set stayed on and worked.
But after 10 minutes of running the TV died and now when you power it up it quickly shuts down with no restart .No stored codes. When first pluged in the timmer still flashes and goes out after 70 seconds.Hit the power button powers up and dies.
MY MISTAKE !!!.....I was so glade the TV was working that I had forgot to install the convergence IC heat sink.Mabey this is why my set died afet 10 minutes or not.
I re installed the old convergence IC but the set still shuts off. Im going to order another IC but untill then, Larry do you have any ideas.
Larry,
I also found fuses F9A05 and F9A04 5 amp, open. They protect the -24 and +24 volt switched power. They were not open before when the set would not project, but after running 10 min they open.
This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT.
The reason the F9A04 and F9A05 open is bad convergence IC's. are you buying aftermarket IC's? You sneed to purchace the original types made by Sanyo. That is who makes these ICs.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the pico type fuses for the power supply circuit of the ICs? Most places seem to want me to buy in bulk!
Thanks.
Go to kenselectronics.com and ask them. They are sometimes also called resistor fuses because they look like small 1/4 watt resistors.
Good afternoon Larry

No, simply slide out the chassis and loosen the wire ties and tilt the chassis over
Hi Larry,
I looked in your dictionary and I couldn't find a def fo "IC" - isn't that rich? Anyway, where are the fuses for my Mits vs-60805? I found the IC chips, thanks!
IC means Integrated Circuit. They are several hundreds to several thousand transistors inside an IC depending on what it is designed for.

They will be mounted on a large metal heat sink. They will not be on the fin side , they will be facing away from you on the opposite side.
I hate to sound dumb on this but I have a WS-A65 and have heard that there are some upgrades to the TV to bring it up to newer standards and also increase the longevity of the TV. Please if you would explain this IC unit. Thank You
Thanks Larry, I was able to locate and re-solder the connections. That seems to have done the trick.

That set is the same as the WT-42311 set, You can find it on the resources tab in the technicians corner under downloads. Good Luck
