Larry this is an awesome

Larry this is an awesome source of information. I have read the entire couple years' comments and have learned alot. I have a Mitsubishi WS-65905 that seems to have the convergence problem going on. The screen has a 3-D effect especially around the edges and the on-screen label (ex:input source) is both in green and red with overlapping and warped text. I unplugged the TV, left if off overnight, plugged in next day and it worked wonderfully... for about 30 minutes... then the problem came back. I have duplicated this a few times now and each time it starts out ok but the screen image goes bad fairly soon. Do my symptoms sound like the IC convergence fix? I do not remember any posts that say the picture starts out ok but goes bad after awhile. Thanks again!

LARRY, Problem: Image Washed

LARRY, Problem: Image Washed Out after IC's installed to fix convergence. I read this forum and determined that my Mitsu WS-65807 need IC's. I bought the kit from the tvrepairkit that you recommend. The convergence went away. I was celebrating and patting my back, but then 3 hours later the image was completely washed out. The picture is still there but the image is like a photo way overexposed. If I turn on the TV now, I'll have normal good image but not for long, the image become washed out. What is wrong? What can I do next? Thanks.

Hello Larry,

Hello Larry,
I have a Mitsubishi VS-60805 rear projection TV. I have a big converagence problem. It comes and goes does not seem to be heat related. I have seen post about the conv amps going out. Is that where you would start?

Larry Dillon
yes,The best advice I can

yes,The best advice I can tell you at this point is to go to tvrepairkits.com and order the complete convergence kit for your model of TV set, no need to search and order multiple parts from different sources and pay multiple shipping fees! The kit comes with original Sanyo STK ICÂ’S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made ICÂ’S, and full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into asnag or problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases,
I need your e-mail address please

I am attaching 2 images to show a Normal TV image and a washed-out TV image.  After the IC kits were installed, I had normal TV image for about 3 hours, then the image became washed out.  Each time I turned on the TV, regular image came on for a short time (minutes), then the same thing happened again, the iamge remained washed out like the illustrated photo.

Since I do not know how to

Since I do not know how to post photo, I'll try to describe what I mean by WASHEDOUT TV image: If you increase the brightness and reduce contrast of a photo, you lose all colors of the photo but the faint image is still there. Need some help. My email is: [email protected]
Thanks,

Need help... I have a Mits

Need help... I have a Mits ws65711 that was working fine without any issues until this one...turned off the tv the normal way and in the morning, tried to turn it on. The green light turns on approx 5 seconds and turns off again, tried leaving it unplugged overnight, same symptom when I try to turn it on..after the initial green light flashing, green light on for 5 seconds then off no picture. I have been reading this forum and is a newbie on these things, and from what everybody is saying(bad caps and/or IC)I ordered the IC chips as listed for my model and will order the caps(what type and where is the best place to get these?) The tv is 6 years old. by the way where is the DM located and how do I get at it? Any thoughts? Please help email [email protected]

I see that you have answered this same problem for numerous others. Thank you for your obviously invaluable assistance and guidance. Now, I am one of the many with the permamently blinking green light on the front of a Mitsubishi WS-55513. In addition to any direction on how to correct this problem, any suggestions on who might be able to supply parts would also be helpful. Thank you.

I just posted regarding the permamently blinking green light on the front of a Mitsubishi WS-55513. I should also have asked where I might be able to purchase a repair manual, to identify all the parts within the television console. Thank you.

Larry,

Larry,

Wow, it seems a lot of folks have the same problem... thank you for being such a help. From reading the forums I can make an educated guess that my problem is the stk caps, also. I've seen pictures of a Mitsu tv and where the dm module is located, but my model ws-a48 doesn't have any box left of the terminal board, or anywhere that I can locate. Where can I find the dm module on my ws-a48? Thank you again.

Hi Larry, I took your advice

Hi Larry, I took your advice and replaced the convergence chips in my Mitsubishi VS-50111. After replacing both convergence ICs and 4 of the 6 resistors and both fuses. The problem I had is the exact same as before I changed the parts out. When I turn the TV on I get a solid green screen with a few lines running horizontal. Each line is arched up or down, the tv stays that way for about 10 seconds, then the screen goes black but the power light stays green. I unplug the anode cable for the green tube and I get a picture with a blue screen and red writing like there is nothing wrong at all, except that the green is missing from any picture that is displayed. Any thoughts or places I should look? The person who gave me the tv says that it has to do with the green tube and the driver circuit. But, I can't find anything about it. Email me at the email address in my profile or here: hardin at mad.scientist.com Thanks Larry!

picture is off frame. zoomed in too much so u cant see 15% of whole picture. same on different sources: cable, dvd, components. Can it be a convergence board problem? can it be smth else?

Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,
You have sooo helpful. I replaced the capacitors on my Mitsubishi 48613. The green light of death is gone but now I have a new problem. I get the blue screen, I can get the menu on the t.v. can go through all the devices but cannot receive any signals from the inputs or components. Did I do something wrong or is this an additional problem? Thank you for your time.

I have the same convergance

I have the same convergance problem. I want to resolder the ICs but don't know the location. I took off the back and couldn't find them but noticed heat really builds up in there. I kept the back off and ran a little fan in there while it was on and the picture looks pretty good.

Okay, after some sleuthing

Okay, after some sleuthing and surfing various sites, I've learned that my set (the ws-a48) doesn't have a dm module. I would assume this goes for all models using the v20-b chassis, but I can't say that with 100% certainty. What I think I understand is this... there are no capacitors to replace, only the IC chips. They are labeled IC8C01 and IC8C02 and are near the back (closest to you as you look at the board) on the middle board, on a large heat sinc. Larry, if you could confirm what I'm saying is correct that would be great, but if I'm wrong I would love to find out what I'm wrong about. Do I need to pull these IC's out and replace them? Looks like a bear to remove the circuit board, at least compared to simply sliding out a dm module. And soldering in two 20 or so pin IC's doesn't make me giddy either. It looks like they're glued to the heat sincs; anything you can tell me about putting them back the way I found them after soldering in the new chips? Any and all tips or general direction welcome.
