It looks like I am joining the "Mitsubishi party" with everyone else with this "blinking green light of death" problem. This time it is with model WD-62825. It was manufactured in October of 2004....so it's just around that three year mark I am hearing people mention.
I believe this is probably related.....I am now on my third bulb - the first one fried, the second one the yellow warning status light came on within less than ten hours of use, and when I put the third new one in, I am now just getting that blinking green status light - nothing else. I have tried manually resetting, unplugging, and every combination of those possible - and still no picture....and the bowl games are coming....help!
If the same, "replace the caps" repair that I see being suggested on other units will work for mine, you could forward me whatever information you can (repair instructions, manual, where to buy, etc...) to dammeyergolf@hotmail.com, I would greatly appreciate it.
Some additional questions: Are there any additional caps (or anything else) I should consider replacing while I am in there, to potentially avoid having to do this, or something else, all over again in a few months?
Are there any mirrors, or screens, or any "dust collectors" in the area I will be at that I should hit while I have the back off?
And finally, it seems like if everyone is frying 16v capacitors. Is there any advantage of replacing them with something more meaty - or is that likely to cause issues somewhere else? How meaty can/should I go...if I should upgrade?
THANKS in advance!
Merry Christmas!
I originally created a post in the 55613 thread; after realizing it was in the wrong area, I created this thread for the 62825...and have not gotten response on either. Are there instructions to address the "green light of death" on a WD-62825? Thanks!
I had a simular problem, blinking yellow, then blinking green, the yellow stopped when I put the screws in the filter cover, then blinked green for a while, I pushed my second replacement bulb in and knocked the connectors out the back and had to open the back and plug them in. not sure I got them all the way on because now the light went red, like the light is bad, but I think the connection isn't real good or I have a bad bulb, not sure unless I have to reset something.
The blinking "green light of death" continues on my WD-62825.
I have replaced the caps on the DM module board - they actually looked in pretty good shape - no visible blistering.
I also replaced the caps on the FMT board. One of those had a slight bubble/bow to it, but the others looks like new.
The net result of both repairs is I still have that same blinking green light. Every day I will try to plug in, hit the reset button a few times - basically praying it will somehow work again - but nothing.
After replacing caps in the DM module and the FMT board, are there any "next steps" I can try?
Thanks!
I have this same issue (blinking green light with no picture) on my WD-62825. How can I get some troubleshooting info? Thank you!
I also now have this blinking green light problem. I used to work for the home theater store I purchased this tv from. I went back to talk to them and they said they had so many of these problems that they stopped carrying Mitsubishi all together. They said the repair facility told them the repair was a thermal switch. They also said it was a relatively cheap part, but that Mits. was not willing to recall the tvs.
It looks like this problem is wide spread enough that a class-action lawsuit may be necessary. Does anyone know if this step has been taken?
We have just experienced our first green light problem. Mitsubishi WD 62825 purchased 10/2004 from the home theater store and the lamp was replaced after two years. We too have tried everything under the sun to get it to work and nothing, not even calling customer support LOL, has worked. It would make some sense though if it is a thermal switch since the flashing green light is an indicator that tells you the tv is "cooling" and if the switch is broken it would not allow it to come on due to it not knowing if it was cool enough....blah blah blah! we have decided to purchase a service repair manual and change out the thermal switch. We will let you know how it goes....if it goes.....
on a side note, i can't believe that we paid 6K for this television and it has already had so many issues. We are on board for a class action lawsuit and there are several other sites that have the same threads posted with the same issues. Updates to follow and hopefully soon....March Madness is here!
If the light keeps blinking, it most likely not the thermal cutoff sensor. There are SEVERAL capacitors that go bad in this TV set and I have a DLP repair document to help you locate those capacitors. I simply replace all of them and the sets most of the time come back to life. About 65% work, the others have other problems like bad light engines, bad thermal sensors, bad bulbs, bad ballast circuits. Loads of problem with these set. If you wish, leave an e-mail address and I will share these with you. Good Luck
Hi Larry,
wow, thanks for all the insight. i have seen many many posts from you and let's hope whatever you send us will work. you can send it to joshsmommyjen@gmail.com . Thanks in advance and have a wonderful weekend!
Larry any chance you could send the blinking light fix instructions for the WD-62825 to me. It seems I am having problems like those described on this site.
rbuetow@hotmail.com
Thanks a million!
Hi Larry,
I wasn't sure whether i should send you mail here or respond to the email you sent me with the docs so I am doing both. I actually have my tv apart right now and while some of the pics you have look a little different the boards are the same so I am still in route :) to hopefully getting my tv back. I do have a question though, on the power board there is a capacitor (#C9A73) that only one leg was soldered in, is this normal or just a bad soldering job? The leg was folded up under it and before i solder it on the board completely i am trying to determine if there is in fact a legitimate reason as to why it would only be done half way. The schematics I am looking at don't go down to component level and maybe you will have a set that does. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!! ~Jenny
Larry, Can you please send me the repair docs for WD-62725. I also have the blinking green light and checker board issues. I would greatly appreciate it.
jayson@tnjpoetry.com, Thanks a bunch!
Can I get a copy of the repair docs for WD-62825 as well. 67baja@cox.net
My buddy is giving me his set that a tech resoldered the caps. He has to turn the set on repeatedly before it does actually turn on. The tech said he needs a DM board. Any advice?
Thanks a million.
Ok, so replaced all the caps that were listed and a few others that were bulging on top, resoldered C9A73 back onto the power board, checked all the board fuses, and hooked it all back up and... same blinking green light. Checked both thermal switches, good... Ordered new optical engine that should be in this friday, let you know if that works or not... Thanks again for the help Larry.
Also, does anyone know what comes loaded on the hard drive in these TVs? Can I replace the one inside with a much larger one and it work or has anyone tried this before? Since I am in there with it taken apart it seems like a good time to do this if possible. Thanks for all help with this
jen and marc, I do not know what it is on the drive but I do know I have tried to replace the drive with a generic type and it did not work. I was told there was some Mitsubishi firware installed in the drive.
Baja and bigmaci, I will send out those repair documents to you ASAP. Good Luck
Hey Larry, I have repair manuals for my mits but it suggests chassis replacement. Can you send me what you have on replacing the caps? I have repair experience, but getting to that DM board is insane.
Thanks!!!
I have the flashing green light on mine now too. Was working fine, then picture froze for about 15 seconds and then it cut out and started the green flashing light routine. Could you send the repair info to me at carl@blessyou.net?
Very much appreciated.
Will do Carl, good luck with this repair.
Carl, I need to know the model number of the set first. You left me very little information man.
Mitsubishi WD-62825
Thanks again. Without your help, I have a big screen boat anchor.
Larry, were you sending that via pm or email? I somehow haven't gotten it.
Carl
Carl, check your junk or bulk mail. I just sent it out again. Good luck
Hi Larry,
Finally the WD-62825 fell to this fast green blinking light.. If you can please email me the great information that everyone is looking for..
My problem is that I would plug the set in, I will hear the the tv powering up, and a fan running in the back (near the power plug).. And the fan will keep on running and never stop. Look at the front of the set, and the fast blinking green light is just going and going and going... no other lights are on. Remote and buttons on the set is non-responsive.
It has happened before, but it would correct itself within a day or two.. (fast blinking green light only happens when I unplug the set). The bulb finally went out, so I installed the new one and I had to unplug the set to change power outlets because I was rearranging the living room. ( I always try to avoid unplugging the set, because I know about this fast blinking light crap ). But this time, it wouldn't come back to life.
The 1st time it happened was about 2 years ago when I was moving, the TV has always been on a UPS, so even with power outage or what not, I've always had power to the set.
Thanks again for your help..
There are several caps that go bad in this TV set. I will send you the repair documentaion I have for thios set. Good luck
Thanks Larry... I'm excited !! I guess once I get your information, I will have to order some parts, then practice soldering..
I sent you an article about soldering as well as a few links on how to solder. Hope this helps!
Thanks bro.. I was reading up on it on the web..
By the way, how big were those files for the WD-62825 ? I keep on checking my mail box, I'll give it some more time.. I actually received the soldering tips before the files.
Then you better check your junk mail then, those were sent out early this morning. I will try and send them again right now.
Thanks bro.. I finally got it !!! Now I have some reading to do, and decide if this is the route I want to take.. (handling it on my own).
