What's the big deal with easter eggs?

No, this question isn't meant to be timely with the approach of the bunny-laden holiday. I'm talking about DVD easter eggs? I am pretty sure I never tried to find one and am not sure what the draw is.

So I have two questions. 1. Is this still a popular feature of DVDs these days or was it a novelty that has long since worn off? 2. Are any of these eggs worth spending the time to find? Someone give me an example of a cool one and I will track it down. I have more than my fair share of movies to choose from so it is likely that I will have one with an egg...

Problem w/ Philips DVD/VCR combi

For some reason, it won't play DVDs anymore. The display doesn't show up when I switch modes from VCR to DVD. The VCR portion works fine. When I try to play a DVD, only the sounds can be heard. It can't be the wires because why/how could the VCR play movies with sound and video?

Enhached Tivo

The device I want is a Tivo with build in ethernet ports and
a firewire 800 port. It would have a near line storage capability so I could plugin 400Gb or 1/2 terabyte drive. I'm willing to
wait a minute or 2 while fetching programs from near line storage. This way I can watch those 6 24 episodes back to back without worring about my wife's food network show or Antiques roadshow.

Problem with Panasonic DVD player

I've just today run into a problem with my Panasonic S31 DVD player. Whenever I put a disk in, the player begins to read it and then shuts itself off. I tried it with several different DVDs and CDs and it does it with all of them all the time. It seems strange to me because I've never had any problems at all with it up through yesterday. Then, today, it is doing this all of the time.

If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

Video Conferencing Options

I was recently turned on to Skype as a VOIP calling solution, which I really like, so I thought I'd get a WebCam to go with it and be able to do video conferencing. To the best of my knowledge, however, Skype doesn't support adding a webcam. I can use Yahoo Messenger, but the video quality is *so* bad. I've seen a couple over software packages out there, but I'm not super thrilled with any of them.

So, my question... Anyone do video conferencing? If so, what are use using software-side with your webcam?
