That's a great old set, but probably not worth spending money to fix it. You might try taking it to a repair shop nearby and asking if they would check the picture tube for you. This only takes a few minutes, and if the tube is bad then it's time to replace the set.

We took the back off of the tv because where we live the dust takes over everything. The tv worked for awhile, in fact it is working right now but it will go to black. The sound will be there but the picture is not. Should I take it apart and blow it out again or is it a bigger problem then just dust?

It is in the "play room" for the kids. My son placed a rather large magnet on top of it. After I discovered it, the colors are now wacky, greens & purlples replace skin tones & such. Repair shop said they could fix it, for $75-$100, I paid less than $100 for it. Is it something I can fix (they would not tell me what was wrong), I am good with most things....
