Television and Home Theater

I have a 31" GE cable ready TV(1996 vintage). The TV is fine with the exception of five chanels that have snow and general interference. I have proven without a doubt by checking all of the cable channels with another TV that the tuner is at fault.

My questions are:

Could I purchase a Cable Box (I have Comcast Cable Service)to eliminate the tv tuner problems?

Will the cable box work with my remote control?

Does it matter that the TV is cable ready?

Your help would really be appreciated.

My Toshiba 50H71 has a large cobweb inside, and I can't find a service manual anywhere, nor figure out how to open the set.

Other Toshibas have screws holding the screen concealed under a panel right under the screen. This one doesn't. And there doesn't appear to be anything other than the panel the connectors are mounted on in the back that could come off...

due to an unfortunate accident my laptopo screen is broken and will be costly to fix, in the meantime I would like to use my spare external moniter however when I attempt to make this my primary moniter the box to tick is greyed out and I can not do it. I have recently heard that most laptops only have duelview and not multi moniter support is this true? My laptop is a hewitt packard pavilion zv 5000, is you need any more info just ask. Thanx.
