In my last blog entry, I mentioned I would discuss a GPS wishlist. First a backgrounder. I had to disable my Mitsubishi 3000GT's after-market alarm system (with an engine cut off switch) because both remote controls died.

One died because it got wet (fell in a lake) and the other just died for no reason.

A number of new digital video disc formats have arrived on the scene to bring us high definition video on disc. And it's about time. Recently, while shopping for a digital television, I had the you-need-way-more-than-just-this-TV conversation. It was eye opening to see just how much investment (not just money) it takes to get 1080i from start to finish in my entertainment center. The main players in the game right now are Blu-ray and HD-DVD. 

A TechLore "Ask the Experts" Question...

Question:

I recently purchased the new Sony DVP-NC875V/B DVD chnager.

I really like the unit but it won't play DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs (it's supposed to). I have tried both Memeorex and Sony media. Those DVDs play on my Sony DVD/VCR combo player (less than a year old) just fine.

Any ideas? I may try +Rs to see if those will play.
