Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

I have the same problem many of the above posts mention. A blinking Green light on my WD52525. I have replaced the 4 capacitors on the DM as well as the FMT board. I had 2 of the four that appeared bad so I replaced all 4. Could you forward me a copy of the service manuals and any other info that may be usefull.

Thanks
JaFisch

Larry,

Larry,

I see over the years on here you have helped many people with this TV (Mitsubishi WD-52525)and its issues. I have a couple of questions.. I have recently (from storms) had power surges and the power gone out unexpectedly (yes I have it plugged into a surge protector) and the TV went nuts! It has always had the timer light blink when turned off but these times i had the fast green light flashing and the only way to get the TV back on was to unplug it for a couple of minutes, plug it back in and then hit the reset pin hole and then viola. But today I came home and turned the TV on and the picture did not display but I had sound for a couple of minutes then the red light of death displayed. I know usually this means the bulb needs replacing but when I went through the steps listed earlier it came back on and is working now. I do not want to buy another bulb if that is not the issue. I am hoping you can help... I am not qualified to do repairs on the TV but my other half is an electrician so he will probably have it fixed in no time with proper instructions to follow. Email is [email protected]

Thanks!

I have a WD-52525 and have the blinking green timer light also. Although I would like to just put this piece of garbage on the curb I might as well try fixing it one more time. Can you please send me the information to fix the blinking green light problem.

How can Mitsubshi still be selling this product? It should be pulled off the shelves.

We have had this tv(52525)

We have had this tv(52525) for 4 years now, replaced the bulbs three times, now the green light is on and will not reset. It has been the biggest piece of junk I ever owned. I want to know if there has ever been been a class action lawsuit against the company. It seems they know they have a major problem. They should be held accountable. Thankyou. I doubt we sink any more money into this set.

have you tried to contact

have you tried to contact Mitsubishi? I know a few are getting the sets fixed under an extended warranty as yes they know this chassis is a piece of crap!!!!!

No Larry, I havn't. We didn't buy any extended warranty. I did talk to a repair shop last Aug. She said her techs will not work on this one. She was the one who mentioned there might be a recall or lawsuit on this tv. She had heard of something about the wd52525. Thank you for responding.

Just thought I'd post some

Just thought I'd post some good news for those out there that are curious about whether these sets get fixed by any of us. My husband was able to fix our WD52525 by removing the chassis and replacing 16 of the capacitors. He got them from Allied Electronics. He just ordered them through his work but I do believe they have a website www.alliedelec.com

He changed 14 of the 1000 UF caps that were originally 16v (10 x 12.5mm) and used 25v (10 x 16mm) - Allied part #613-0749. He said these were a bit taller in size but there was plenty of room for them.
He also changed 2 of the 3300 UF caps that were originally 10v (12.5 x 20mm)He used 16 v and they were the same size -Allied part #613-0186

I should mention that our issue with the set was that all of a sudden it did not work and we got nothing but static noise. We then got the solid red light. We did the test for the code that told us "lamp abnormality". We just did not want to spend money on replacing the lamp, only to find out that this was not the problem. After reading up on this site it became apparant that more often then not, it is the capacitors that just go out. I'm thinking that maybe they just used the wrong voltage capacitors or something when this set was first manufactured??? Who knows. Hope this make sense to anyone reading it and that it helps someone. Our beautiful set is working perfectly now thanks to my husband who has a lot of patience with this sort of thing..lol.

I have repaired 5 of these

I have repaired 5 of these sets now from the blinking green light but have also noticed that the PC input on every set has become noisey. I use the PC/VGA input to watch Netflicks on line so I was dissapointed when that input on our main set started to fail. I found a VGA to HDMI converter for about $60 that really works great so I can still use it as a monitor for my PC and watch Netflicks. I have not seen any info reguarding repair of the PC input . I suspect it's also a bad cap but was not able to find it using a capacitance ESR meter on the DM and FM boards.

Kerry,

Kerry,
Is the fix you've done on all sets the FC switch you added?

Still haven't gotten my TV up.. even with the switch. Just got bad into looking at it.

Hello, all. I'm back! As I've

Hello, all. I'm back! As I've mentioned before on this thread, I replaced a number of caps and got my tv working again. However, just today, I heard a zapping sound, and then sound but no picture. replaced lamp, same problem. Sound comes on, then cuts out and solid red lamp. took it apart and seeing no obvious signs of arcing. did notice a 1500uF cap bulging, so will replace that. error code is 34-lamp abnormality. Wonder if I do in fact need the switch, there have been no power outages. Thanks in advance for any help!

GaryF
Hi Thatguyflint....we had

Hi Thatguyflint....we had gotten that same #34 lamp abnormality code and as I said it that previous post, hubby changed all of the caps on 4 different boards. There were 14 of the 1000 uf caps and 2 of the 3300 uf caps. It's been working now for maybe about 2 weeks or so. We had noticed that on several occasions, we just lose the picture and must reboot the tv by unplugging it and plugging it back in and then it works. This tv is certainly a lemon huh? Will continue to monitor it's use here. Joyce, posting for GaryF

Ryo - The FC startup switch

Ryo - The FC startup switch has worked so far on the 5 or so sets I have brought back to life. I did have one that I did a lot of experimenting with that in the end would boot up ok but would not power up. That one became a parts unit.

Hello Larry,

Hello Larry,
I have a Mitsu WD-52525 and I am getting the quick flashing green light. The bulb was just replaced, but still has the same problem. Can I please get the info on repair [email protected] . Thank you

It's unbelievable how many

It's unbelievable how many people have this same green blink light problem!!!
My number is up and my Mitsubishi WD-52525 (less than 5 years old) is now a $2000-piece-o-junk.  It's been 3 weeks w/o TV.

My choices are throw it away; take it apart and try to fix it; or spend the big money to have it repaired with the possibility of it breaking down again next year.

I'm almost ready to head to Costco for a new TV but can't afford one right now.  It'll take me many more months to save enough for a new TV - and NO!!! it will NOT BE A MITSUBISHI!!!!!!! EVER!!!!

We have had the techs at our house 3 times since we bought it (less than 5 years ago) plus many other crashes and freezes which I was able to revive myself.

Larry - please send me the repair instructions which I heard so much about.  MANY THANKS in advance.  My email = [email protected] (no kidding!)

Oh boy Victim...I sure feel

Oh boy Victim...I sure feel your pain. We were in the same boat about a month back but my husband decided to try and fix the set. I went about getting information and copied all of the manuals for him. He took the set apart and is quite handy so this will all depend on your ability to fix things? Do you have a soldering iron and feel comfortable replacing some of the capacitors? My husband ended up replacing about 16 capacitors all together. He ordered them from the electronic company that his work deals with. Anyway, the set is now operational so I guess what I am saying is that it can be repaired. Don't give up yet. Good luck to you and just know you can do it...just be patient with it. Joyce

Hi Joyce - I'm gathering the necessary tools and parts.  I got the instructions from Larry (great guy!).  I also need a chunk of time so I concentrate on the task of fixing it.  I hope to have some good news soon....Thank you for sharing your experience.

Ok people let me share my

Ok people let me share my story and hopefuly this will slow down... Although Mits has us with no real leverage, they know these were pieces of junk....I had a WD-62525...

I called up the Customer service number and calmy explained my situation, they offered to send a tech out to me, at my cost... I asked to speak to a supervisor and all the sudden the call was free.... The tech came out and wrote up that it was a dead unit again (had chasis fixed a year ago), he sent in the paperwork, I had to send in the reciept, and then he had to send in the history of repairs. Then they called and offered me the WD-65737 for $457.00 including tax, shipping, and disposal. I told them that my unit had net command and sd card slot for lookign at pictures so the 837 was more of a comparable model. The first person I talked to said it would be $800 for the 837... So I asked to talk to a supervisor. Who of course was not available. So I wanted my support person to call me as well as the supervisor... 2 hours later my support person called and said ok... The downfall to this is that I had to send them a cashier's check or money order and it will take 4-6 weeks to recieve the TV. But I will be revieving my 65837 for $457.00.....
