Larry,
I just did a quick continuity check on the pico fuses on D and G board of my KP-43HT20. I found the 5 am PS5001 open on G Board. Rest all fuses show continuity. I have a few questions
1- Do you think I should just replace this fuse or shall I go about replacing both ICs and this fuse.
2- Do you also suggest replacing other PICO fuses which are fine at the moment.
3- Is it recommended to clean the lamp with anti static cloth as part of this procedure or I should not touch the lamps at all.
Replace IC's first then the bad pico or you eill burn out the resistors but do not buy cheap IC's only buy original Sanyo IC's for replacement!! http://www.electronic-repair-kits.com/index.html
does anyone have the manual for the kp-51w520? the only one I have found is for the KP51WS500. Sony is indicating that the manual for the 500 will not work for the 520.
I have a KP65WS500 that when powered on immediately powers off and blinks 6 times (standby light). Done some research and some are saying that it is the
I have an Sony KP-51WS500. I have unplugged the red gun from the circuit board, because if it is plugged into the board - the picture looks absolutely PERFECT For about 5 minutes, maybe a few longer. Then the entire picture slowly but surely goes to Extremely Red. I have been told it is the IC Driver Circuit. If someone out there has an manual for this tv, and know the chip numbers i need please please let me know.....
Send any manuals or anythning to me please... Thank you
That is called the CR board, The original is no longer available but Sony does have a good sub for that set. the availability and cost is here http://www.partstore.com/PartSearch.aspx?PartNumber=A-1332-158-A&x=22&y=15
The best thing you can do is to pull off the red crt board at the end of the red CRT. Then read the number right off The board and co to pts corp.com and see what they charge to overhaul/rework your board. GOOD LUCK!!

Hi Larry.
I acquired original ICs and PICO fuse (5 amp) and replaced them. I checked continuity of PICO fuse after replacement and it worked great. I checked IC connections as well and they are shorted across PINs (18 pins of IC) and seemingly are well soldered. However, when I turn on the TV the condition has not improved, I still see 3 different colors separated from each other by a few inches. I pressed FOCUS button lot of times but had no impact. I did not try changing the various settings that were posted on this forum to manually focus the three images as I do not have the remote with me (my friend said he has lost it). Could you suggest what I should do next..kinda stuck and feel bad that so much effort did not yield much result.
FYI - When I turned on the TV, the POWER LED blips 6 times before the TV turns on.
you might have blown a pico fuse around the IC's , if the pins were shorted or perhaps you need to adjust the manual alignments with an original remote. Maybe you can find a friend, neighbor, relative that may have an original Sony remote you can borrow?

Hi Larry,
Thanks for quick reply. I would try to find a friend who has Sony TV. I felt from your message that any Sony remote would do the job and not really of the same model (does that include LCD TV as well). Do you know if Universal remote (logitech) be helpful.
I will check the PICO fuses on D Board as well. Do you think its a good idea to look at the schematic diagram and check the next step from each IC PIN for continuity (to enusre solder is proper even though it looks proper).
TV IS still all red. I have unplugged the chip power from the main board. I have tried to adjust all colors and everything when gun has power, and no luck. Picture still goes all red. Please hel p!!
Larry, you are a very generous man to share your knowledge with everyone.
I have a KP-57WS500. I picked it up free. I downloaded the manual. Through reading all the posts I can find on it and using the trouble shooting and manual I deduced I had a bad red CRT. I found one online for $73 and replaced it. Once I replaced it, (and two resistors on the control board that were smoked) the red worked and was way out of wack. I adjusted everything and it have it looking good. Now for my problem. As the TV warmed up the red became more and more intense. I would turn down the voltage to make it good again. A couple minutes later, the same thing. This went on for a couple adjustments and about half an hour until it finally leveled out. All it well until I turn it off and let it cool down. When starting from cool the red is very weak but over the half hour comes up to good. I could live with a minute or five, but 30 is too much. I read what you said in another post about swapping the CRT control boards. Since the leads are so short I swapped the red and blue. The problem followed and was now affecting the blue so I know it is the control board.
There is really not much to the board. I already replaced two resistors that were visibly charred. I have found the whole board for sale for $45, but more than likely there is only a component or two that is faulty, right? Is it doable to just trouble shoot and repair the board instead of buying a new one?
I have the skills for soldering and trouble shooting to get it done.
I appreciate your input. I am just trying to keep this repair as cheap as possible.

No a universal remote will not work for you.
I have a Logitec Harmony universal remote and it worked great for everything in the service menu, FWIW.
