Would it be possible to get a copy of this fix mailed to me as well? I also have the wd-52525 and I have the tv almost completely apart and the dm board exposed. I'd really appreciate it
Hi Larry,
I have WD-52525 and I replace the lamp and still the red lamp show up. I remove and install about 3 times still don't work. Please, help me. My e-mail is [email protected]
Have had blinking green light since Jan. 12. on my WD-52525. Had service tech look at it wants $449.95 +tax to send out and have chassis rebuilt + $290 labor. Mitsubishi has said they will pay 25%. Would take 5-7 weeks. Right now I'm not willing to spend that much as tv's are getting less expensive.
Have left it unplugged. Last night plugged and unplugged several times quickly and left it plugged in. Today blinking green light is gone. When I turn it on I get a blue screen with a white sunburst in the middle (about the size of a soccer ball) with white static lines to the sides. When the tech was here last week I explained that I had something similar before it went to blinking green light. He was concerned I may optical engine problems too but we were unable to get passed the green blinking light. Can anyone out there enlighten me does it sound like I have more then just chassis problems?
Thank you for any help.
I have a WD-62525 and have a similar problem as listed in this thread. The TV was off and when we tried to turn it on a green light on the front blinks constantly. The like is named
I have the BGLOD for about 6 months now. Up until recently I could fix it by unplugging the set for a half and hour or so. I have been reading the forums and am going to try and replace the caps on the power supply and DM module. Would appreciate a copy of the step by step if at all possible. Thanks. This problem miraculously appeared a month after my extended warranty ended. i bought the tv in May of 2005 It is a model WD-52525.
Please send repair info. As of today I just joined the club of WD-52525 owners who have the bulb problem and blinking green lights and then nothing. Especially after just having the bulb replaced 22 days ago.
Can anybody please send me the procedure on how to remove the DM board. I need to replace the 4 capacitors. My TV model is WD 52725. Please email it to [email protected]. Your help is badly needed. I am not sure if Larry is still on this thread. Thanks in advance.
My wd-52525 is dead, seams I am not alone. Took it to repair man he replace some capacites, but can't get it to turn on. Can someone email the repair doc's
Hello Everyone,
We should all just ship each and every one of these TVs back to Mitsubishi and load up the front lawn of the corporate headquarters. Short of that..
I have gone through exhaustive troubleshooting and cross referencing all the fix procedures I can find on the web for these tvs. I have also replaced multiple capacitors across the boards.
For those out there who are not electronically inclined read this advice and its free.
The longer you have had the blinking light problem, and still got your TV to work by unplugging it and plugging it back in etc....only to find one day it would not come back on...the more damage you have in the TV across mutiple circuit boards and perhaps the light chip itself. Replacing a few caps on the power supply or other boards is a waste of time and effort.
If you just got the blinking light problem and understand electronic repair and safety...unplug the damn tv now and go replace the caps using all the web repair info you can find. Understand that you are only temporarily fixing the problem since there are multiple other capacitors across the circuit boards that are now flaky and will go bad eventually.
As you may have read here in the forum, the factory replaces the caps on all boards since they put junk on them in the first place. The factory also has the advantage of having actual test equipment to check the boards and replace other semiconductors that have been cooked. We as mere mortals on this side of the TV repair inductry don't even have access to detailed schematics.
If you are not electronically inclined put your Mitsubishi TV in the dumpster and go find another (circuit city doesn't have any real bargains by the way. I watched the liquidator raise prices in our store to give everyone a "good deal") Just opening the back of the TV and getting to the circuit boards is a nightmare (WD52525).
If you can repair electronics, don't mind a challenge and want to save money, and can go without a TV for a while....I say Mitsibishi should sell us the parts directly and I would even sign a hold harmless agreement to release them from liability. We would not be taking food from the repairmans children in bypassing them this way. Repair people already hate this TV and don't like working on it. We'd be saving them the hassle and let them concentrate on easy repairs to the tons of overpriced LCD flat panel junk out there.
If I cannot source the boards for this TV, I shall make a U-Tube movie for all to enjoy of its ultimate demise that I promise will be entertaining.
In the meantime keep looking for sales on 52" TVs and don't by Mitsubishi...spread the word...vote with your wallet. Why I ever bought a TV from a company that used to make the Zero fighter of WWII I'll never know but never again
I hate to say that after 2 months and having my electrical engineer friend replace the 14 troubled capacitors I have given up (my wife gave up a month agao but decided to humor me for a month). I did manage for it to go from a green blinking light to a yellow one though. Its pretty sad that I know people that have 10 year old Mitsubishi TVs and these tings could not last 4 flipping years! I hope to recover $200 (maybe from the bulb or stand) so I can pay for the sales tax on my new Samsung!
Thanks to those of you that posted good advice, I really think it comes down to luck as to how long these things last.
How do I get the board out? I am trying to avoid unnecessary disassembly. I have a WD-52525. I took all the screws out that I could see on the main chassis but still can't get it out. There seems to be something holding the assembly somewhere in the area of the horizontally positioned fan.
This is the real problem with this set...It's a bear to take apart and reassemble.
Get a digital camera and take pics as you disassemble.
Using the service manual page 12 as a ref.
Note the all wire locations as you take things apart.
They all have connector numbers. Write them down!
The top shroud with the fan needs to come off first.
Then remove the TERM1 TERM2 assembly.
Next remove the FMT board.
Next remove the DM board.
Next remove the SIGNAL board.
Replace all 1000uF caps on every board you have removed. Most likely they are bad even if not puffy.
Check every fuse on every board. See page 46 for power fuses.
A tip I have used for SMD fuses is: if you do not have a replacement SMD fuse you can break open a glass fuse of the same AMPs and solder a small piece of the wire along the top. Use a plain fuse..Not a slow blow!
Make sure all cables a plugged in via the list you created during reassembly.
Tv set WD52525 The service tech said he could send the entire chasis containing all boards, caps etc. to mits. and they would replace the board and all necessary components. So he sent it. Mits replaced with new boards all new caps etc. Mits called me and send they would replaced all necessary components and boards etc. at no cost to me. It took 4 weeks to get the chasis back, but sure enough it took care of everything with a guarantee from Mits and a 6mos. guarntee from my service techs company. It works great!!! No green blinking light. No rainbows. No problems with the bulb. No message saying the tv is going to shut off in a few seconds etc. Tech charged me $90 and Mits charged $0.00

Wow.. how did your service tech swing that? $90 is a steal and to have Mitsubishi replace boards and parts for free??
That service manual is available in the technicians corner under he resourses tab on the home page. contact Mitsubishi about the repair of this set as I hear they are fixing a lot of these models for free!
Can you send me the name and number of the person you talked to at Mit.? The service company I called wants $150 for the house call, $295 labor and $500 to send to Mit. with the boards for the rebuild cost. Saving the $500 right now might make it afordable for me to get it fixed. I can't aford the $1K+ repair or a new set right now. Thanks in advance for the help.
Could you send me your repair instructions to [email protected]? I began to tackle this last night and just want to make sure im doing it right. Thanks
I would really appreciate a copy of this manual. Our tv is not being useful in the entertainment dept., much like my computer and other helpful electronics around the house- Does anyone know of an electronics strike?
My email is [email protected]
Thank you.
I would like to know how to get it repaired for free also. They do it for free I'll pay the local tech labor.
Mitsu agreed to 25%($190.61) of total cost. That still keeps my TV at money pit level. I'm getting close to buying a LG 52LG70. Seems like different repair centers have different quotes for sending chassis to Mitsu or in other words how much is Mitsu charging and how much of that are they pocketing.
My bulb ia 1.5 yrs. old anybody want a spare cheap?
Hi, The Mits number is 1-800-656-3005. The Tech from the TV service co. here in Denver, CO. told me that Mits. was in a 48 State Law Suit over this issue. Unfortnatelly, they knew about this problem and that the components and DM boards were not capable of handling the amount of heat these rear projection Sets produce.
The Tech from the servie company we used came out to the house and when I told him the problems we're having he said he could replace various components on the Boards, but that he would just end up coming back every 3 to 6 mos. to change out the same Caps etc. and other components. So he took the entire chasis containing the Dm board etc. and shipped the set to Mits. Customer Service from Mits called me one week later saying they would replace the boards and any upgraded components that were required to withstand the heat produced by their sets free of charge. They put an entire new chasis in ours apart from all the compenents and just as they said their charge to us was $00.00. Also, WD52525 is not the only TV Set they've had this and similiar problems with.
Anyway the Chasis arrived two weeks later. The tech came out, put it in and it has continued to work perfect. The tech said their company has been sending Customers Chasis into Mits for two years now. And not one of the sets has had any problems. Mits has a warranty on this new chasis and my Service Techs' company had a 6mos. additonal warranty on the chasis and anything related to it if we would have had any trouble. Zero trouble to this day.
Lastly, I don't have the persons name I spoke with at Mits. But the second person from Mits who called me to say it was done and had already been shipped was also very helpful. I did forget to mention the only cost we did have was from the Service Company. They came out, tested the set, shipped the Chasis and its components to Mits. And came back to install the Chasis and check to make sure it worked well. That total was $269. I know that sounds like a lot, but I know many people who have had Techs out 3 or 4 times to replaces Caps, heat sensors and many other components on the DM Board etc. The Tech told me the error codes such as blinking green light, rainbows, TV shutting off, Check air flow, and check Lamp are all signals that tell them the TV Set's Chasis and components are not capable of handling the heat produced by these sets.
Lastly, even though our Mits TV is working perfectly, I have always used a small, very quiet 4 - 5 in. fan placed against the air intake vent. We turn it on everytime we use the TV. Out Mits 52525 is now 4 years old and we have never once had to change the lamp. It is the orignal lamp that came with the Set in Dec. 2005.
Would it be possible to get a copy of this fix mailed to me as well? I also have the wd-52525 and I have the tv almost completely apart and the dm board exposed. I'd really appreciate it
