Wow nice work where did you get that information?

I found the information on

I found the information on Fixya.com but that was all there was of use. It was a short clip out of some type of service bulletin I would suspect.

Kerry...

Kerry...
I don't know what to say.. you are the man. I got home and finally got to try it. Luckily for me it's a problem dealing with the reader. I removed the USB cable and after 70 seconds I was able to power up. I was even able to turn on the TV to get that all familiar blue screen. I'll try to investigate what caused the reader to go bad.. whether it's the actual reader or if there is something wrong with the card.

I owe you a beer.. and if you don't drink, I owe you a soda. ;)

Weird..

Weird..
I removed the USB cable and the TV didn't have the blinking green after 60 seconds.. any case I decided to put the USB cable back in which the unit was plugged in. no problems, and no blinking green. Okay then I tried using the SD card slot, failed reading it.. okay good so far. Then I unplugged, replugged back in and after 60 seconds, no green blinking light??!! tried it again a few more times and same result.. no problems. Now I'm truly confused. Going to put the TV back together to see if it still works. Strange stuff going on here.. and I'm not trusting it.

I think I have a flaky reader

I think I have a flaky reader. Tried to read another card and it started to show the slideshow picture list and then it errored out and said that there were no jpg on the card.. even though it was starting to show them. So the verdict, bad reader. Going to take it out and see if it's fixable.. though it might be issue on the card.. Hard to tell.

At least not it seems consistently turning on so that's a good sign it will work for a while.

Ryo - I'm glad that info

Ryo - I'm glad that info helped you out. There is so much info available out there if one can just be lucky ( and persistant) enough to find it. It really pays for everyone to help out when they can.
Hope you find the reader problem and that the rest of the set works ok.

Well it seems to be working.

Well it seems to be working. Probably going to add a fan to it since it looks like the units warm up even though it's all off. Crazy design. Now I know why I hear the fan running 24/7.

Well I hope it works out for you guys. Glad you were able to narrow the problem down.

Good to know its possible to

Good to know its possible to fix these things!

Using the troubleshooting steps above, my problem seems to be with the DM card. I probed some of the signals on the DM for reset & power. Looked at connector DC, pins 32 - 35. All are at ~3.3V except pin 33, subpower. Naturally trying to get to the DM card and probe it while the set is one is painful!

The adventure continues!

Thanks for the suggestion.  After looking into it, I don't think its the DMD/light engine.  I can force PON2 high to turn on 3.3V and 5V on the power supply and to the light engine.  If I then remove J14 from the DMD and measure the outputs they all look good.  Also just unplugging the power input to the DMD (J9) does not stop the blinking LED.

I have a mits Wd-52525 bought back in 2004. The thing has the famous green blinking light for hours. It will shut off on its own the just set and blink green. Would you send a copy of the directions/info for this. If not for guys like you we would be buying TVs every couple years.

Larry, I have the WD-62525

Larry, I have the WD-62525 with blue screen/cloudy in the middle. I did the self-diagnostic and it returned 12 (ie. no faults). I plan to replace both the 3300uf and 1000uf caps regardless since I'll be taking the back of the set off. Can you email me your 'troubleshooting' info? Additionally..can someone give me catalog part no's for the caps. I'll order from DigiKey or Newark or some such. Email is [email protected]
Thanks for all the knowledge and help.

I am a newbie in here and I have the BLOD on my WD-52725. I'd appreciate if you can send me the repair manual to [email protected] Is there any common bad part for this problem anyway?

Thanks.
Dennis

Larry,

Larry,
Greeetings from North Carolina! I hope this post finds your health improving... hang in there! My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

I own model WD-52525 - so far I have replaced all of the larger capacitors on all of the boards in the chassis. In addition, I replaced the light engine (with a used part - hopefully it was defect free). I'm still getting the 70 seconds of blinking green light and a dead set. The code blinks '12' in diagnosis mode.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Ryo_Ohki2
Just a FYI guys. Page 23,

Just a FYI guys. Page 23, Kerry posted a way to determine which board is bad. Might want to try that to narrow your choices of the problem.

For me my problem was solve by fixing capacitors and finding a bad data card reader. The other guys found board bad in different locations using Kerry's suggestions. :)

I went back and found this

I went back and found this info I had seen on Fixya.com

Red status LED, self-diagnosis error 44, check for open F9A06 on the Power PCB part # 283P128050 on the Power PCB 2. Red lamp LED, self diagnosis error 34. Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if missing replace the Power PCB part # 930B921002 3. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. This model is equipped with a keyboard lock feature, this can be mistaken as a no power condition. To unlock the keyboard press and hold the "menu" button on the front panel for 10 seconds 4. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Check for 3.2 volts DC at connector LE pin 3 and 4 on the Control PCB, if low suspect problems with the switches/buttons on the Control PCB part # 935D776001 5. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Keyboard is not locked and key inputs at connector LE pin 3 and 4 check good. Suspect the E2P PCB part # 934C121001 6. LED does not stop blinking after 70 seconds of plug in. Disconnect the USB connector from the card reader to the front from the Chassis, if the unit will then boot up replace the Card Reader part # 299P271010. 7. LED does not stop blinking after 70 seconds of plug in. Disconnecting the USB connector from the Card Reader did not help. Suspect the DM PCB part # 934C116002 .
