Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

Can you send me the repair instruction for replacing the caps in my wd-52525.

The tv was working fine and instantly changed to a blue display with random noise pattern.  Resetting the tv or turning off and on has not made any difference.

thanks for the help.

After experiencing the blue

After experiencing the blue screen and random noise, I took my tv apart and found about 10 electrolytic caps buldging. I sent an email to mitsubishi and they emailed me first thing last Monday. I called the customer service and they wanted a quote from the local Mitsubishi repair. I took my tv in pieces to the local place for an estimate and am currently waiting. The local place did say it seemed as though Mitsubishi may cover some of the cost. The cost of the estimate is going to be $45. This may be a good path for people to follow. Though, in the end, Mitsubishi may not cover much and I might end up just changing the caps and seeing if this fixes the problem. If other people contact them, they will at least know how widespread this problem is. It may push them to some sort of better solution or fear of lawsuit. Just trying to help.

^^ That is good to know, I

^^ That is good to know, I haven't recieved a response or email from Larry yet. But the T.V. seems to be getting worse. I might have to look to taking it apart and see if I can fix it myself since I can't afford to have someone fix it. Anyone who has any info or repair manual for a MIS. WD-52725 please send it to: [email protected] , thanks Steve

Hello,

Hello,

I have a Mitsubishi WD 62525 that has been problematic. Currently it has the red lamp light on with a fault code of 34, lamp abnormality. The tv turned on last night and worked and then went into all of this. Before the tv shut off, the picture started having lines in it then got grainy etc. I shut the tv down checked the bulb all seems fine. Turn it back on and it faults. I jumped out the door switch at the face of the light compartment, the tv turns on, you can see the lamp and fan energize then it goes out and the tv faults. Do I have a bad optical engine, or is something going on when the 5 vdc does not switch back to 0V?

For a tv that is just under 4 years old, I can say I wont buy another Mitsu

ssms17607 - I would contact

ssms17607 - I would contact Mitsubishi customer service and tell them you are concerned you have the same problem as many other owners of the tv. They should direct you to the nearest repair shop, as they did with me. I checked into my tv Friday and the repair shop has to reassemble my tv completely to start to troubleshoot it. I verified this should only be $45. I'm with you on not being able to afford to have someone else fix it, unless Mitsubishi covers the majority of the cost. We shouldn't have to on a problem this widespread and for a tv this new.

Hello Everyone,

Hello Everyone,

I also have a WD 52525 (aka CRAP). I recently solved the lamp temperature problem by geting rid of the connector and soldering the thermistor directly.

My set also has the blinking green light and was intermittent previously but now it is a permanent problem.

Can you please send me the directions on how to fix the issue please?

My email is: [email protected]

Sincerely,

 Peter

Hey Larry,

Hey Larry,

Could you also send me the directions/info for the blinking green light issue? After following this thread, it's too bad you don't get paid for these emails...you'd be a wealthy man.

Thanks again,
Tim ([email protected])

Hello,

Hello,

I recently Posted abot this blinking issue. I took out the 3 boards(what a mess, can I even get this all back in??), and all of my caps seem to look fine. No buldging, no discoloration.

My questions are:

1) Can they still be bad even though they look perfectly ok?

2) Can this issue be caused somewhere else?

I believe Larry has pointed

I believe Larry has pointed out in the past that a small percentage of units may have a bad DM board. You would have to remove the caps and test them to see if they truly are bad, not having any buldging on any of them. You may want to contact Mitsubishi. They will direct you to the local service department. This is what I did. I took my tv in a bunch of pieces to them. They first thing they will do is reassemble it to troubleshoot it. I verified this will be $45.

Hey Hawkeyes,

Hey Hawkeyes,

I pulled the caps out, and they are all perfectly fine. I also checked the fuses and they are also ok. The board looks dandy.

THis green light blinking problem started popping up in Jan, and then it got progressively worse(i.e. took more unplugs & resets to boot it), until recently nothing would work. This slow progression of death of the DM board can be a hint.

Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps it's time to call Mitsubishi.

pmtwiss,

pmtwiss,

If you call Mitsubishi, they should direct you to the nearest authorized repair center. I took my tv to the nearest repair center in pieces. The caps in my set were bad visually. I didn't replace any, for fear of having some other problem on top of that. I still haven't heard back yet on their findings. I will let you know as soon as I hear back. They did have to reassemble the tv to troubleshoot. If my tv is not repairable, I to will not buy another Mitsubishi. Samsung DLP sure looks like a good set and with no lamp depending on the model. Good luck....

Hey Hawkeyes,

Hey Hawkeyes,

Thanx for the replies. I did call a couple. One said it all the board had to be shipped to mitsubishi and it would take 8+ weeks to get them back. Another place said he could fix it by themselves. We'l see about that one.

Larry and others withis issue

Larry and others withis issue,
Thanks again for the documents they are GREAT!!
However, I have one issue right now.I replaced 12 caps and am putting everything back together. I just got to step 15 of your document I believe in reverse order, my issue that connector PF with the ferrite bead on the wire harness is a 3 pin connector while its mate on the DM board is a 4 pin connector, at least on mine it is. The issue now is that the connector can either start in Pin 1 and fit or Pin 2 and fit. I would call the red wire pin 1 in the harness which is closest to the ground. The connector can not be flipped as it is keyed. The issue is where the red wire starts, pin1 or pin2.Any help would be appreciated!

Hi I also had the same

Hi I also had the same problem, screen had green lines accross, or just blue while on other devices. But on a split second the lamp light turned to red. I ordered a new lamp but that did not fix the problem. I troubleshooted and got code 34-lamp = had to replace capacitors. I have ordered the kit, and I left off right where the capacitors are supposed to come off, I saw two that where bulging out, and my hubby when to pull the first out, but it just broke off leaving the rest of it there. And we have not touched the second one. How can I fix this problem?? And can you please e-mail me the fix as well my e-mail is [email protected], thanks in advance.

When I turn on the set I hear

When I turn on the set I hear a fan noise thet sounds like it is laboring or hitting something and then it shuts down and the red power lamp comes on. I have changed the bulb and the same thing happends.

OkieRover
Replaced the caps as

Replaced the caps as described.
But I still have the green blinking light.

What is the next step from there?
Is there a next step form here?

Larry, could I ask that you forward the documents the others have request on to me as well? I would appreciated it very much.

If I remember correctly that sound was the sound of a dead color wheel.

It was the first thing to fail on our WD-52525.

OkieRover- I would still

OkieRover- I would still recommend contacting Mitsubishi customer service. At least, they will have your issues on file and you should get a case number. I'm still waiting to hear back from the local Mitsubishi repair center on mine. I believe Mitsubishi knows they either have bad caps from a vendor, or a design problem stressing the caps with an overvoltage or transient problem. Either way, they won't have an accurate failure rate on their sets unless people call them to complain.

Larry- I understand

Larry- I understand Mitsubishi doesn't give a crap about this problem. The only way to get them to care is if it affects them financially, via lawsuit, or people quit buying their crap. I am merely pointing out to people that I think it would be good to contact Mitsubishi because you have pointed out that the cap fix isn't 100%. What do those people do, use it as a large boat anchor? I deal with failure rates and root cause analysis everyday. The first thing I ask is, "What is the failure rate?" If I can't produce any sizable failure numbers because nobody bothered to enter the data, it's not my problem.

Look fellows. The TV repair

Look fellows. The TV repair guy told me they rushed the Mitsubishi 52525 and the 62 inch version to market. Just to beat someone else's product to market place. It was bling when it came out. Everyone I told that I had one...said the same thing. That's a nice television. And it was. Until the parts started falling off of it.
They said the first thing to go were the lamps. I still have my original.
The first year, the color wheel disintegrated. Mitsubishi after dozens of phone calls FINALLY agreed it should not have failed and provided the part OUT OF WARRANTY. I had to pay for it to be installed.
One year later the power supply failed. I paid to have it fixed.
Now in our third year the DM or whatever is dead...died.
The TVs were crap and it is an expensive lesson to learn.
I'm telling them what I think of their products by NEVER BUYING ANOTHER MITSUBISHI and I tell everyone I hear that is buying a TV or electronic device NOT TO BUY A MITSUBISHI. And I tell them this story. That's how you let them know you are displeased. If you post enough about their products failing or being less than claimed it WILL AFFECT THEIR SALES.
Thanks for all the help.

Larry,

Larry,
I have the WD-52525 also. It has the blinking 'timer' light continuously. Wont turn on. Is this possible a capacitor problem. I repaired my other TV (RCA 52in) that had a capacitor problem so I'm pretty comfortable with doing it if thatÂ’s the problem. I could use some guidance though.
Could you please send me the repair docs when you get a chance? Thanks in advance.
