I am having the flashing green timer light problem also. I have model MB-52525. Please send the information on how to fix this to [email protected] I also was wondering if this is a long term fix or will I need to do it again in six months to a year. This television was given to me so I was wondering if it is even worth fixing or should I take it straight to the garbage dump? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This appears to be an active thread on the WD-52525. I have a problem
I can't find anywhere. TV powers up, screen displays a narrow long
rectangular black and white (blue & white?) checkerboard pattern.
No menu or video function response. Any idea?
Thank you.
The formatter board is bad. Most likely you have several bad capacitors on it. ptscorp.com can rebuild the board for you. Go to their website and contact them by phone. The number is posted there. Good Luck
Hey Larry,
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
on the bad formatter board. I'm pretty good with
component level repairs.
So I'll give it a shot.
Greg
i seem to have the same problem as everyone else with the red blinking light with the WD-52525 model. could I get your help also please. Thanks in advance! [email protected]
Mr. Dillon, Would you please send me the information on replacing capacitors on the electrical chassis for the Mitsubishi 52525 DLP set, as well as the hints on the targeted capacitors to check out, and the block diagrams on voltages to check? I've already replaced 8 today, become an expert on quick and careful disassemble/reassemble of the set, but still am troubleshooting the issue. Thank you for your time and patience. If I can get this thing to work (it's become a matter of principle at this point), I'll definitely send some green in your direction.
Hi Larry, I'm about to replace the lamp in my Mitsubishi WD-52525, but have also experienced the blinking green light anomaly in the past. Would you be so kind to email me any/all technical repair docs you have for the WD-52525? I want to know what I'm getting myself into if I still have problems after replacing the lamp, and like to take a shot at troubleshooting before asking for more help. I do not have the service manual, either, but am willing to buy one if needed.
Thanks much in advance! Just joined Techlore today after reading through much of this thread. Excellent forum. You are extremely helpful (and patient).
Hello Larry, you seem to have the answers with Mitsubishi WD 52525 problems, I am hoping you can help with mine.
My Red "Lamp" is lit. No picture at all.
I replaced the lamp, plugged the tv back in, turned on the tv, green light came on, sound then came out of my external speakers but no picture (no light out of the vent on the left side either). Pushed reset button, red light went off and green light flashed for 30-45 seconds then green light turned off. I powered on the TV, green light went on and stayed on, sound from external speakers, no picture, after 30-45 seconds sound off, green light off, red light on. I then removed the light to make sure all was in ok, and repeated the process 2 or 3 more times trying to get the tv to work, no luck...
To help (or more likely complicate) things, I had a similar problem a year ago. I called out a service tech (who had no idea what he was doing, he was on the phone with Mitsubishi support the majority of the time). Long story, after about 4 service calls and 6 weeks he replaced the Optical Engine and the Lamp Ballast (Mitsubishi covered the parts, I paid for the labor).
my e-mail address is [email protected] if you would like to contact me.
thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Larry, I replaced all of the suspect caps identified in your documentation. The tv fired up and works great!!
Both of the 3300µf caps were swelled to the point of fracturing the scored ends and a few of the 1000µf caps were also slightly swelled.
As a side note, my tv exhibited the exact same symptoms as the post above from brianmonty.
Thanks for the help!! I'll be getting in contact with your paypal account later today.

I had the bulging capacitors problem on my WD-52525, and it was out of warranty. I sent the following email (see below), and I got a call 15 minutes later from Mits! They offered to pay for half of the repairs, plus give me a 6 month warranty on the tv. I ended up doing the repair myself for dirt cheap and took the warranty. The good news is I'm expecting my bulb to burn out any time now, so the new warranty should cover it for free :-))
My name is xxxxxx. I own a WD-52525 DLP Projection Televsion, which was purchased on 4/17/05.
I have been very happy with this TV until today, when it stopped working. At first the picture started flickering, and then it gradually got worse. The TV will not display anything correctly anymore, no matter what type of input is being used. I am a bit disappointed, but I know that even the best products can't have a 0% failure rate.
Before getting the TV fixed or replaced, I decided to do some research into what may have caused this failure. To my surprise, I came across a wealth of information and discovered that my problem is actually very common. Many people with this (or a similar model) TV are having the same failures, and they have become much more frequent as of late. It appears that the problem stems from bad capacitors, either on the power board, format board, dm board, etc. I doubt I need to go into details, as I'm sure you are aware of this problem.
Now my question becomes this: you know that many of your TV's contain bad capacitors which likely lead to failures. What are you doing to fix the problem? Many of these TV's are out of warranty, but they are still relatively new, so owners are spending a lot of money fixing this problem, sometimes more than once.
I wouldn't be upset if this was an isolated incident, a run a bad luck. I understand that can happen. But this is clearly a pattern that is affecting a decent percentage of your products. It appears that your quality system failed somewhere along the line.
I can relate to this. I work for a medical device company, and I spend some of my time in the top tier of technical support. When we see product failures, we try to identify them as an isolated incident or a trend. If we recognize a trend, we work hard to fix it and do whatever it takes to make the customer happy.
So right now I have a non-working WD-52525 television set that failed because of an unfortunately common problem. What will you do to help me?
I appreciate you taking the time to listen. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
My TV has also stopped working and has the green blinking light. It is a Mits 52625. Could you email me your directions for possible fix at [email protected]? My kids are going through TV withdrawls.

Hi Larry.
What you're doing is a great assistance to those of us holding a Mitsubishi screw up our butts. Good karma man. Thanks again.
Could you send me a copy of this repair manual - aka "Mitsubishi survival guide". I have a WD-52525 and it has weird yellow dots and lines on the screen and nothing else, but it does have audio. Occasionally I had the green blinking light syndrome as well.
What happened to this once great company? Did Samsung run them off the road? Their TV's now are so cheap. Did Sanyo buy them out or what?
Hi Larry I am experiencing the exact same problem with my Mitsubishi WD-52525 DLP Rear Projection HDTV. The TV set will turn off and the green timer light will blink rapidly. I have been doing some research online and found the it may have to do with bad capacitors in the board. I found directions from WS models but I cannot follow it exactly. Can you please send me the directions to this particular set and how to replace whatever is wrong. Anything will help. Thank you. My email is [email protected]
Excellent service that you are providing us Mits. owners here... we would be screwed w/o you.
Could you please email me the repair info on the WD series (DLP)? My mits WD-52825 started the blinking light o' death after a quick power flicker the other day (TV wasnt even on). My 3 samsungs and 1 pioneer elite plasma (all of which WERE on) all survived w/o a prob., but the mits (again, NOT ON) decided to commit suicide on me. yay mits.
if you could PLEASE send me the info to [email protected] i would forever be in your debt.
p.s. - got the P.S. and the D.M. boards out... the PS and DM fuses look/meter good, but the 4 caps in question are definately bulging. also, I was a bulging cap on the next board over, the analog video board, cap C2M29 had a distinct bulge, where the one next to it, C2M28, does not.
man... this is NOT going to be fun to re-assemble.

Larry, could you please send me the WD-52525 repair info at [email protected]?
Symptoms FYI:
1) Powers up with the normal solid green light.
2) No display of any kind comes on the screen.
3) I can see through the grills on the rear left corner that the new lamp I just installed after this happened is burning brightly.
4) It then turns itsefl off after a minute or so and displays the solid red lamp light.
Thanks in advance!
