Long ago, when audio systems consisted of 2 speakers, bass management was nothing a home user needed to be concerned about. The 2 speakers in the system were usually large tower or bookshelf sized speakers, and capable of producing bass frequencies on their own. With the widespread adoption of digital surround sound, combined with tiny speakers and powered subwoofers, properly configuring bass management is imperative for getting the most from your audio experience.
Setting up an audio system is a lot trickier today than it was many years ago. In the past, speakers were designed to reproduce bass frequencies, so the need for seperate subwoofers were non-existant. When the size of speakers began shrinking, the need for subwoofers to handle bass increased.
Treadmill have a wide variety of gadgets that are available on them. The most gadget laden seem to be the Nordic Trak treadmills.
Here are a list of the gadgets that come connected - which I use and which I wouldn't waste time on:
1.) Fans - nice. Loud, interferes with listening to the TV. I wouldn't pay extra for them, but I do use them some.
2.) Ifit capable. - This lets you connect your laptop or dvd player to your treadmill, and will control the incline and speed of your treadmill while letting you listen to music (Not music you would hear on the readio, generic voice free music) and / or watch pretty scenery. Some people like this. You can virtually walk through the grand canyon, or hawaii. I prefer to watch Buffy the Vampire slayer. It is more distracting.
I bought my first treadmill about 3 years ago. It was originally priced a little over $900.00. (I bought the floor model when the models changed for about $300.00 off.) I bought a proform, with the space saving design (where the deck folds up)
Within 3 month of having it, Sears had to come out on a service call to fix it. That held for about 2 months, and then I got into a repetative pattern of needeing service every two to three months. Needing service was a drag, it would take them about a week to come out, then they needed to order parts and come back.
I don't know if I just got a lemon, I know several people with the same brand who are happy with it. I just think that a treadmill in my house gets more use than in many other houses.
Everyone in my familly uses the treadmill at least once in a while.
