Samsung's huge DLP TV

Yep... There's a great battle in Korea. Samsung or LG will definitely make a one story high TV for consumers. In the meantime, Samsung will sell the biggest DLP TV (71 inch)SVP-71L8UH in September. And it's going to you guys in the US too. It's got 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,920x1,080 pixels when connected to PC, and HDTV ready. The price is ok too for such a giant. Only $7,350.

The future of video gaming...

Last night I went to a presentation by one of the founders of oddworld, Lorne Lanning.

His presentation was excellent. Funny, creative and relevant. He talked about some the problems in the gaming industry, and where he sees the industry going.

I didn't take notes, but to losely summarize the big predictions:

We will see more collaboration between films and video games, and sharing of technology. (think of the large army scenes from Lord of the Rings, that was accomplished by the use of technology developed for video games.

We will also see more content delivered online, to be downloaded. It may take a while for bandwidth to really make this practical.

I really got a better understanding of what goes into making a video game.

Can my TV Stay in the Cold?

A TechLore "Ask the Experts" Question...

Question:

I have an RCA 27" TV, and I want to know if it will hurt it by leaving it in our unheated cabin over the winter months in up state Illinois? Also, will it hurt to leave the dvd player there also? Yes, the temperature will get below freezing.

Answer:

This is one of those kinds of questions that tend to be answered differently by different people. That being said, I'll try to be as objective as possible.

Type 2 diabetes is one of the fastest growing health problems in the United States. It is frequently progressive, getting harder to control the longer you have it.

Type 2 diabetes is characterized by the inability of the body to use insulin properly (insulin resistance.) Over time, some type two diabetics require insulin shots to help control their diabetes.

(Type one diabetics cannot produce insulin, but they may over time become insulin resistant. Type two may have their pancreas quit producing insulin and wear out, so it is possible to have characteristics of both at the same time.)

I am a type two diabetic, and have been for about 6 years. Yesterday I started a new medication, which is a major breakthrough in the treatment of type two diabetes.
