Would you be kindly send me a service manual for this model KP-46WT520?

Been reading this thread and

Been reading this thread and this forum for a while and decided to join and try to get some help. I have the KP-46WT520 model and am about to change both diodes on the G board, but since I have ZERO solder experience and am not in the mood to die at the age of 25, I'll be taking it to someone who knows what they are doing. My only question is how do you take the G board out? I can get all but one thing disconnected, it looks like its soldered to the board, some wire with "CN6004" right above it?

What should I do?

Hello Larry, I, as well as

Hello Larry, I, as well as all the above good people have a Sony KP56WT5200 unit with the same problem. I'm glad that I found your forum and I see that you have helped a great number of people with the same problems that I'm experiencing. Thank you on behalf of all of us. I have phoned a local Sony repair depot asking what the code for 9 blinks was. The receptionist refused to let me speak to a tech, but she did ask them, and from what I could hear in the background, was a lot of laughters from the techs, I assume. The receptionist told me that it was better if a service tech came to service the unit. How much? I asked. The reply was: $99.00 for the service call; $55.00 to just look at the unit; plus parts and $99.00/hour labour. From your forum, I can see that it is a very common fault and easely rectified by anyone with a little soldering experience, which I have some 30 odd years of. The diodes, from Sony cost less then $10.00 for the two.

Larry, you mentioned that you can and have uploaded a copy of the schematics/user manual for the KP-46WT5200, would it be possible for you to upload a copy to me please. My email address should be on file, if not reply to this thread and I will supply it to you.

Once again, a BIG Thank You.

Howdy Larry,

Howdy Larry,
So here is my dilemma:
I have an KP-57WS520 with the damn 10-9-9-9... error.
I brought the G board to a local electronics shop and they repalced Q6107 (with NTE 382) after 3min of poking around with D6301 and D6116 (I hadn't found this forum and didn't know to tell him to test them under load). I got home and it WORKED!!! For about a day. Then took the G board to a local TV shop to have it rebuilt (as I couldn't find anywhere to ship it to and I don't trust myself with surface mounted anything). They sent it out to get rebuilt. I just got it back and same error, even after resetting the diagnostic memory (thank you for that tid bit of knowledge). I am solidly getting 10-9-9-9... and a ZCD error in the diag menu.

SO after that long story here are my questions: I'd like to check their work. Would I plug in the G board to power and then Check D6301 and D6116? If so do any of the other 3 jacks need to hook up to something. If that tests ok would I then start on the D board like I saw mentioned earlier in this thread?

Thanks you SO much for all of your info I have read so far, but I'm stuck now and don't have the money to bring the whole TV to a shop.

Hello all,

Hello all,

After reading all the helpful posts on this issue, I bought and replaced the two diodes in question and am still getting the Zero Crossing Detector error. I used the on screen diags to confirm the issue still exisst after unsucessfully replacing the diodes and getting the same symptom, 9-9-9-9 etc...

On the remote: Display, 5, volume -, Power On

SELF DIAGNOSIS
2: +B OCP 0
3: +B OVP 0
4: VSTOP 0
5: AKB 0
6: LOWB 0
7: H-STOP 0
8: AUDIO 0
9: ZCD 255 <-- note how many times the fault happened while troubleshooting
10: HV PROT 0
101: WDT 0

So I cleared the codes:

1. Power off (Set to the stand by mode.)
2. Display, Channel 5, Sound Volume +, Power ON (Service Mode)
3. Channel 8 ENTER (Test reset = Factory preset condition)

Now I'm stuck not knowing what to do next. It's a Zero Crossing Detector error still...if I could just get rid of the diags screen and watch the show behind it!! Thoughts?

double check your soldering

double check your soldering or portioning of the new diode also how much heat was applied to the small diode as it has been known to get damaged because of overheating on installation???????

Everything checked out fine.

Everything checked out fine. I'm stalled out here, short of taking another shot at replacing the same diodes.

I also stumbled on a thread where it was suggested to replace D6301, D6116 & D6117. 1n4148 was used for the surface mount diodes and nte116 for D6301.

Also, any idea where I can get a new G-board? Part number A1054157A doesn't check out on any of the sites mentioned earlier in this thread and others I've read. Doesn't look like anyone has one...

Larry,

Larry,

On Nov 20, 2007 I replaced the D6301 and D6116 diodes after reading your advice on the 9 blinks. My set is still working beautifully two years later. Just wanted to say thank again for your time and advice and the patience you've shown answering everyone's questions.

Hi everyone, I am new to this

Hi everyone, I am new to this site but I just wanted to tell you all that the information you give on this is top notch. I have a 46wt520 and it has the infamous 9 blinks. I am ordering the parts today, I will try to keep you all updated on the progress. I would however appreciate it if anyone can tell me the location of the diodes in conjunction to the G board. Thanks for all of the advice.

I just wanted to give a huge

I just wanted to give a huge thank you to this forum and especially to Larry Dillon for all the great info here. I have the Sony KP-46WT520 and just started to experience the 9 blink issue about 2 weeks ago. The set is about 6 years old and I was being quoted between 350-450 for the diagnosis and repair. I would consider myself mechanically inclined but more of a novice when it comes to electronics and was pretty apprehensive about soldering the 2 diodes onto the board. I figured I would give it a shot and if it didn't work, I really wouldn't be any worse off than I already was. I ordered the diodes from partstore.com, cost with shipping was $23.82, and they just arrived last night. I had some trouble finding d6116 at first, but I downloaded the service manual from the resources tab at the top of this page, and the G board diagram helped out greatly. I was very surprised at how small d6116 was, which was the main reason I couldn't find it at first. Anyways, I pulled the board out, took my time in removing the old diodes and soldering on the new ones, reconnected everything, and I am back in business! Once again, thank you very much for the info on this forum!!

Service Manual Link.

I had Same problem and only replaced D6301 with a 1N4007. You can get the 1N4007 from radio shack in a assorted 25 pack of 1amp rectifier diodes.

The lable on there price I think say #10 - 1N4001, #5 - 1N4002 But it doesnt mention that it has #5 - 1N4007 diodes but it should be in the pack.

I had the 10 blink problem

I had the 10 blink problem with this TV, I got sound but no video and the led would flash 10x continuously, I replaced IC8002 and put in an IC socket just as suggested by Oranom on this forum. Only 7.95 in parts from Ebay. And now everything works fine! Thanks for this board

I have just received both the 6301 and the 6116 Diode parts. I opened back of TV and found the G-board on the botton left side. Now it seems that after reading the above post on June 26 that I need to remove the G-board from the TV and if so can it be done just by unscrewing the two screws I see near its center or is there something else I need to do to remove it?

Thanks

After reading through all the

After reading through all the posts related to the D6301 and D6116 repair, I just tried the repair on a KP-46WT520 that I got from someone who didn't want it anymore because it quit powering up. With those diodes replaced (I did check the polarities and the solder joints after the work was done), the unit now tries to power up longer, but then shuts off again. I hear the hum of the HV circuit trying to come up, but then it shuts off. Any hints for a next step?

I am getting 10 fast blinks now (pause, then 10 fast blinks again...and repeat). Looking at the blink code information, I'll be checking Q8014 and Q8013 on the G board next, looking for shorts or bad solder - and if those are bad also checking R8051 and IC8005.

Thanks for the great help on this problem in this thread, Larry!

Background (I am a EE with many similar repairs under my belt).

It doesn't look like this problem is being discussed anymore. I wish this happened to me earlier. I have no experience at all but heard that is was fixable. Found the G-Board but need to know how to remove it.

I had same problem the 9 blink code for the diodes but D6301 was the only one I replaced and got it to power up longer then I got the 10 blink code, but when I turned it on I got sound then shut off. Sometimes it would work picture and sound no problem. So I was told about Sony's MCZ3001DB and MCZ3001D Chips seems to fail alot.

I replaced IC8002(MCZ3001DB) and IC6400(MCZ3001DB) and it fixed problem.

So its possible thats whats wrong with yours is they my have completely failed. I make no guarantee that it will fix it. So its your choice on trying.
