Hi Larry thank you for your reply, which kit am I looking for in tvrepairkits.com?

oh i didn't see your reply above , i'll replace those diodes and report back.  Also, I read other threads that claim that you have to reprogam some code if you disconnected the G board, is this true?

Larry Dillon
Could you please take digital

Could you please take digital photos of your endeavor with the repair? I would really appreciate them!

No worries will do Larry, so

No worries will do Larry, so do you know if I have to reprogram any firmware code once I remove the board?

Larry Dillon
no you will not need to do

no you will not need to do any firmware adjustment

Ok so I decided to send the G card to Tri-State Module Inc., After almost three weeks I just got the card back.  They rebuilt it for $39.95 not including shipping, which is another $10.00 or so.  I'm disappointed as the TV failed to turn on :( I now get 10 blinks, I get sound at some point I also get intervals of 5 blinks.  I'm lost don't know what else to do???

Gary

did you explain to them that

did you explain to them that you had a 9 blink situation when you sent them your board???

What happens if it blinks five times with only sound and no picture? Do I need to send out the D-Board?

Larry Dillon
oh so now you have a

oh so now you have a different problem??? yes the D board is a good place to start!!!

they have carried the diodes all along. 10 blinks, then 9 continually is the same issue as the "9-blink problem" so yes, REPLACE the diodes. I agree, the boards should still be available, however, the entire board is much more expensive than just the small diodes so if you can solder (and even if you suck at it), just do the diodes. its way more economical. not to mention better for the environment.

A five blink problem is a D-Board issue.

Haven't I posted those

With the TV off is there a

With the TV off is there a possibility I can get shock when removing the D-Board?  I've always been afraid of the Flyback Transformer wires.  Any tips or suggestions, can I use my hand without using rubber gloves to pry the wires out?

Larry, I havent forgot about the pics, I will send them to you as soon as I get this thing working.

Gary

that big red wire does not

that big red wire does not come out of the fly back, but the other side of the larger red wire that goes to whats called a distribution block, you need to peel back the rubber boot, then grab the wire push down on the wire and turn it at the same time counter-clock wish then pull on the wire if you get it turned. Sometimes it can be hard to turn the wire and may take several times to turn it counterclockwise but it will come out, then once the wire is out touch the wire that you just pulled out of the block and touch it against the metal frame around the picture tubes

I suspect by touching the metal frame will discharge all capacitors; will I see a spark? And should I be using insulated gloves? Sorry for the novice questions but I refuse to let my Sony TV die Undecided

Thanks again Larry

Larry Dillon
Well yes you can use whatever

Well yes you can use whatever makes you comfortable, an you might get a small spark when discharging the High Voltage wire. Good Luck!!

I read the article, I should have stated that the set will not power on.  It is failing once again.  I have verified polarity and of proper functioning of diodes.

Larry Dillon
did you do a reset of the

did you do a reset of the fault code memory yet?
