Yes found it there. thank you

Yes found it there. thank you for quick reply.

When I turn the tv on it blinks 4 times the diagnosics suggests 15V is not supplied to D board and IC8003 is faulty. How do I go about finding the right part and ordering. I am not electronics engineer (but engineer) have not soldering before so would not attempt it myself. But do want to find the right part order it and get someone who knows how to do it to come out and do it.

BTW let me also add that I do have ghosting occuring on the left side of screen only. So I am trying to see if I can fix it myself. I tried the Auto button and it did not fix it.

I live in Centreville, VA. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for your help.

Hi again Larry, You were a

Hi again Larry, You were a great help in helping me restore my Sony KP-46WT500 to 'like new' condition. The problem I'm having now is with a newer Panasonic plasma tv. I bought it in 2007 and the warranty expired just before the problem started. It's a TH-42PZ77U 42" and just died. The red power LED blinks at me 9 times right after I plug it in then blinks 10 times, pauses, then repeats with the 10 blinks. No power, no sound. Certainly sounds like a power supply issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [email protected]

Hi. Can you tell me how to

Hi. Can you tell me how to remove the front panel of the KP-46WT500 TV? I was wondering if the RBG adjustments are located in the front like some other models. I'm having the eliptical line issue, mainly blue lines, with an occasional red at top and bottom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Davebshk,

Hi Davebshk,
I also have KP-46WT500 TV and In addition to blue elliptical lines I have a blue haze on the picture. I was told that it can be fixed by RGB adjustment. I was wondering if you found out where they are located. I will greatly appreciate this info.

Larry Dillon
no no it sounds like you

no no it sounds like you have bad cooling fluid inside the picture tubes that needs to be changed similar to an oil change in a car also sounds like you might have a convergence issue, if you leave an e-mail address I will send you some info on these issues

Donna
Thanks Larry,

Hi.

I removed the front panel and adjusted the the RGB. Pretty easy adjustment. Lines are gone and picture looks great, but now my power light flashes 5 times indicating a white balance problem. Reset and it still flashes. I'll never buy Sony again. I'll just use this one til it stops working.

Does anyone have the service

Does anyone have the service manual still for the 46wt500 sony tv? If so I need it sent to [email protected]. My set comes on okay but slowly gets blue and then turns to solid blue with a bow tie like line at the top and bottom. From what I have read it's the Convergence IC's stk 392-560 and maybe blown pico fuses. From what I can find the pico fuses look like small dark resistors and should be close to the IC's. I have moderate experience in electronic repair. I see you can buy kits with IC's , fuses, and resistors. Does anyone know the location id's of all the pico fuses and resistors related to the IC's?

So my KP-46WT500 finally went

So my KP-46WT500 finally went on the fritz yesterday. The green and red seam to be out of alignment and the green looks to be distorted also.
I read through this post and all the replies and started disassembling the TV this morning.
I have a question though, has anyone had the IC's fail without any pico fuses being blown? I'm not finding any that are blown at the moment and now its got me questioning my initial problem.
I can say this, I was appalled at the amount of dust inside this set. I've done my best to clean it all out. Has anyone cleaned any of the parts inside, projector lenses, mirror, etc., and if so what did you use?

Any help would be much appreciated.

(update 1) Ordered the replacement 560's today and spoke with a local TV repairman. He said he has seen the IC's fail without the picos blowing, but I'm still a little worried.

(update 2) Removed the IC's today, new ones will be in Thursday. Does anyone know how many pico fuses are on the G board? Schematic shows 4. I've only found 2 so far (without removing the board).

(update 3) Wired in the new IC's last night. TV works again! I got lucky and didn't have to replace any fuses. Picture was a tad blurry but flash focus fixed that. Made sure the chips were transferring heat to the sinks before buttoning it all up. Those little guys put out a lot of heat!

Thanks for all the info in this post, I couldn't have done it without it.

Okay, so I am having this

Okay, so I am having this same problem with my KP-46Wt500. I ordered the repair kit from tvrepairkits and installed the 2 new IC chips, however the TV is still messed up. Also, it seems that only one chip is generating heat, the other stays cold. I double checked the solder job and it seems fine. Should I go for the pico fuses now?

Comet65
Reading all the posts here,

Reading all the posts here, That sounds like a safe bet. There are 2 or three on the vertical board to the left, and 3 under each convergence IC heat sink. I am still waiting for parts to repair my set.

Do I have to de-solder one of the fuse when I test them? Or can I test them directly on the board. Thanks

Comet65
test them right on the board.

test them right on the board. If they don't show shorted, replace them. Mine all were .2-.3 ohms except the bad one at 200k ohms. that was with a good digital meter.

Okay, I went straight to the G board first and tested the two pico fuses PS5002 & PS5001 straight on the board. For one of them, the multimeter dropped to practically 0. The other one had no activity and stayed at '1' the entire time. I did this like 10 times just to make sure, and same result everytime. Safe to assume that fuse is bad?

UPDATE: That fuse was bad,

UPDATE: That fuse was bad, replaced it and TV WORKS PERFECT NOW!!

Glad you got it fixed. hope

Glad you got it fixed. hope mine works as well.

oh it will if you get the kit

oh it will if you get the kit for your set at tvrepairkits.com. you will get everything you need with the complete kit even the original convergence ic,s
Larry Dillon, oh and the pico fuses would check bad-right away if you disconnect one side of the pico fuse before testing it.

Hello, I am also experiencing

Hello, I am also experiencing a similar problem with my Sony KDP-WS550, the converge seems to be slightly off. The blue does not seem to be aligned with the other colors, when I do the flash focus it doesn't resolve it. I've had the TV for about 4 years now. The TV is great. I was hoping that someone send me the manual to this tv. your help would be greatly appreciated.

I started out with a

I started out with a convergence problem. When I brought up the convergence screen grid, I didn't get the "cursor" they talked about in my research. I purchased the TVRepair kit and I changed out the convergence IC's and still had the same problem. I changed out the pico fuses, I found 1 bad one. I tried it again and was able to get the cursor, move it around and change colors. I couldn't get any movemment in the grid lines. I changed the resistors that came with the repair kit and when i turned on the set I got sound and no picture. I realized I forgot to plug in the high voltage block connector on the D board. I powered down and connected the connector. When I powered up, I got the stanbdy led blinking 6 times. Service manual indicates its an overvoltage / overcurrent problem. Could I have blown the high voltage block? How do you check it? Or could I have blown something else. Any help would be appreciated.

Larry Dillon
not sure i will have to check

not sure i will have to check into that please.Larry Dillon

Hi,

Hi,

I have the KP-46WT500 as well, and after over five years of use, the other day it went "foosh" and out of convergence... My problem is related to green and magenta being out of alignment and both show significant curvature. Any ideas on what went bad?

I see that some have had success in replacing IC's and fuses, but there's an element of risk to life and limb. Since this is just sitting in the spare room now, and my son is playing the old Gamecube on it (out of convergence!!!), what's the cheapest way to get it fixed in Chicagoland?

Are there any good places where I could take it to and have them do this work for me (in the area)? There's a Devry College nearby... do they have the kind of classes that someone mentioned. I don't mind if the students take their time and if they can never re-animate it to proper life...

Anyone live in Chicagoland or know someone that wants to come out for a reasonable fee?

Thanks for any advice, tips, or help you all can provide... especially Larry...

I downloaded the manual but

I downloaded the manual but didn't have any luck taking readings as I didn't have an adequate power supply. Ir really looked like I needed to change out the D board at about $200 and that would not gaurantee the convergence would be fixed. I decided that the 42" lcd looked pretty good for $600 and put the Sony out in the drive. Good luck to who ever picked it up the other day and good luck to you.

That is a shame man could

That is a shame man could have sold it for at least 50 bucks or so on Gregg's list.

Rob B
It doesn't sound like I have

It doesn't sound like I have the same problem, since the TV goes on and stays on just fine. The problem occurs from the start, even when it's not warm yet, so it's probably not solder joint issue, at least more a permanent one.

Larry (or anyone else who's debugged this issue), do you have any idea from my earlier description that it's just curved picture and green/magenta separation... It's another variation of convergence issue, but does it sound like a simple fuse, or more like an IC chip, or a whole board?

I'm tempted to take it to the curb too... The hassle of listing it and dealing with the sale process of a non-working item doesn't appeal... but I thought idea of getting it to a college might work...!!!

Again, where would I look for a TV repairman that can make housecalls in Chicagoland...? What does that service run, I wonder...???!!! More than the cost of after-Christmas sale on a 46" replacement? I would hope not...!!!

Larry Dillon
yes,Naseer Khan,it sounds

yes,Naseer Khan,it sounds like a simple 80.00 convergence repair. I guess if you have the cash to throw it out and buy another one as they are pretty inexpensive these days a convergence kit would have repaired it now you do not have to bother with it. most folks who buy the kit to repair the set are doing it for the challenge of saving themselves 400 to 500 bucks.
