I am having the constant blinking light issue discussed, as well as before my TV went caput it would have a blue screen with light blue distortion running across the middle, finally the tv would not turn on anymore. Could these stem from the same issues or are they spearate fixes.

I have all the boards out ready to replace the capacitors. Could you send me the repair instructions and service manual to [email protected]

Thanks

When I power up my 52725

When I power up my 52725 everything appears normal. The fans start and the bulb turns on. The sound comes on then the picture comes on. After a few seconds the set shuts off and the red light is on constant. Prior to this situation the set would not come on. We would unplug and try it again. Most often it would start up and be OK. As a point of reference I swapped out the bulb, no change. I swapped out the power supply board, no change. I swapped out the entire main chassis, no change. I would have swapped out the lamp ballast but I don't have one. Is it possible my problem might be the ballast? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for any h

I had the same problem - I tried the fix and unplugging the FC connector.  No go.  So I sent my chassis off to Ken at http://www.tv-techs.com/.  It was worth it to get it fixed and not have to deal with Mitsubishi.  I am watching my TV today.  Aaaaah.

my WD52525 ( ~ 4 years old,

my WD52525 ( ~ 4 years old, one lamp already replaced) stopped working - looked like a bad bulb. Replaced it, powered up and there is no picture at all (black screen), but there is sound and it doesn't react to "device menu" .
Maybe it wasn't a bad bulb to beging with ( I have 2 good lamps now ??) and non-working TV with "red light" ...help

Amazing how many people have

Amazing how many people have this "blinking green light" issue with the Mitsu sets from '04-05, etc. My model WD-62525 ($3899 new 4 yrs ago) is toast unless I can fix this dangnab'd blinking "timer" light. Most enlightening about the failure of so many capacitors. Led me to the Wikipedia web pages on "Capacitor Plague" at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague

Larry, Please send me your repair manual/notes/pictorial regarding re-capping the Mitsu DLP sets (esp. the WD-xx525 series). Send to ... tjuniversal 'at' verizon 'dot' net

Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

I have the WD-52525 with a solid green light without picture, but TV will start normally when left unplugged for hours. When it starts up it has diagonal lines across the screen for a short while, then the picture appears normal.

Could you please send me the info for the capacitor 'Fix'? Thanks so much!

Larry,

Larry,

I just was given a DW-52525 that was not working. They did not have any of the manuals for the TV. When I plugged it in I have a green blinking light over the timer buttom.

Where can I get the manuals, and would the fix be the same as the other are talking about. I would appreciate you sending me that information.

Regards

Bob

To Bob and other newcomers...

To Bob and other newcomers... (Like me ;-)

To find service and owners manuals, just go to the top of this page (or the Techlore home page) and select the green "Resources" tab just under the Search textbox. In the popup menu, select the link to "Service Manuals", and you will find the Mistubishi V26 series (WD-52525, WD-62525, WD-52625, WD-62625, WD-52725 and WD-62725). The chassis in these sets are identical except for features like Hard Disk Drive (for DVR capability) added in the ...725 (V26++) series.

You'll want to get additional files from Larry by emailing him directly. These are indispensable, as the factory service manual does not have all the details for disassembly and reassembly that you'll need.

I found it very helpful to take STEP-BY-STEP notes as I disassemble the set. I also shoot photographs at each key step of the process. This way, when putting it back together (and there's a LOT to put back together!) I'll have more than my memory as a guide.

Ciao,

Jim George said: Just a word

Jim George said: Just a word of thanks to Larry Dillon for his documentations and to several Techlore members (Tony G., et al) for their expert advise. Was able to get my WD-52525 back up and running over the holidays and it has be running great ever since. I had the rapid green blinking light which I could not get to reset. Tore the unit apart and found 11 swollen 1000uF caps on 4 boards (FMT, DM, Power, Termninal 2). Replaced the 11 caps and re-connected boards/cables in the TV, but still had the blinking green lighs. I then pulled the 4-wire FC connectore off the FMT board and plugged the TV to AC outlet. After 1 minute the green blinking light went out and I re-connected the FC connector back on the FMT board. Was able to turn on the TV and my inputs (cable coax, DTV input, components) were all working. I can turn the TV on/off/on using the remote or from the TV front panel. If I lose power to the TV (i.e. unplug it from AC), the continous green light problem comes back and I have to do the trick with the FC connector again. As suggested by earlier Techlore postings, I cut the Orange wire (6VS line) on the FC connector and spliced in a small on/off toggle switch with about 3 feet of wire. Routed the toggle switch and wire to the front of the TV and taped it behind the gray speaker grill. The toggle switch was small enough to lay flat behind the front grill. So far the TV has been working great as long as there is no power interruptions. Should I experience a power glitch and the blinking green light reoccurs, my steps to get the TV back up is: - Turn AC off - Pull grill off and set toggle swith to off - Turn AC on and wait 1 minute for green blinking light stop - Set toggle switch to on and place grill back on the TV - Turn on TV with remote or from front panel Hope this helps. Jim

Jim. Thanks for this report. I have heard a lot about this method but have not seen any details on how to get to this connector. Would you be so kind as to let me know exactly how to find this thing so I can see if this works for my Blinking Light Problem. For instance, do you still have to take the chassis out?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Brian.

I have a Mitsubishi WD52525

I have a Mitsubishi WD52525 DLP Television. The problem that I am having is not with the bad capacitors anymore, but with the STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER on the POWER BOARD. I have soldered on 3 new capacitors already on the POWER BOARD and my new issue that I need to fix is finding the right transformer. After I had fixed the bad capacitors and reassembled the chassis, I plugged the tv into an outlet and tried to turn it on but I am hearing a rattling sound comming from the tv, so I listened in and it was in the spot that the power board was at, when I took the tv back apart and listened in again and at first I looked at the board fan which was running and stopping running and stopping, Then I listened in on the Power board and the sound was comming from the transformer...
Now I need to replace the transformer but I dont know where to find the Part Number . If anyone knows the P/N or where to find the P/N for the STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER please send me an email at:

THANK YOU

Yo Larry I got a blinkie as

Yo Larry I got a blinkie as well. I would feel comfortable replacing parts. I understand that the part that is to be replace has a metal shield around it. I think the TV goes on the blink when we have power outages. Sometimes all I have to do is unplug unit for 15 20 min and power up and hit the reset button an tv will come back on. wd52525. But we have now left it unplug for three days no success. Whatever you can tell appreciate it. PS were do I buy parts for it.

Thanks Dave
