You may want to check this site for the blinking green light fix:

Just a FYI: Changing the capacitors may or maynot fix your TV.  I changed all of mine and I somehow got it working.. then after a day, the error came back.  :(  Some people have been lucky and that was the only problem.

First let me say this site is great. I have a WD-52525 that was givign the flashign green light. I followed the isntructions and found all the caps bad o nteh DM board and teh Signal board right above it. I replaced all of those, now the TV does nothing. It makes noise like a fan is running on the PSU board, but there is no fan so I assume its a relay tripping. Anyhow, now the set does nothing. it is getting power to the Power board (PSU) but not much else seems to be doing anything. It does look liek the caps had been replaced on the power board with these two tall monsters. they are 3300uF caps rated at 16V. Probably not right. Either way I guess I'm going to see if I can find another board. Does anyone know a part number? or have any ideas.

I'm in the same boat. I did

I'm in the same boat. I did the cap repair blindly without knowing what the problem really was. I replaced about 12 caps overall and tested a few fuses that I could find. The good news for me is that the TV didn't arc or smoke when I got everything back together, but still had the same BGLOD. I think we need a new thread for plan B - when the repair doesn't work.

Hi All,

Hi All,
I've been watching this thread for months since I got the blinking lights. Here's the story to date.

I replaced the lamp.

Took the whole thing apart, at first without the complete directions, later with the details from the referenced detailed directions.

Figured out I was in over my head to start soldering.

Called Mitsubishi. Long story, ....they needed an authorized repair man to diagnose the problem and report to them....(oops the tv was in pieces)... I said I'm not spending any more money without a letter from them stating what they said.....they said we'll arrange to get someone out there to diagnose.....

The TV actually repeated the problem after I reassembled it.

Diagnosis was the chassis needs to be rebuilt. $1000 estimate.

I'll post the rest of the story next week after we settle on a final cost for each of use.

My Recommendation so far is,
DON'T TAKE THE FRIGGING THING APART UNTIL YOU TALK TO MITSUBISHI.
They know there is a problem with these TVs. Like any other customer service organization, you just have to talk to someone who knows about this problem and is willing to help you.

What do you think it's worth paying to fix a 4 year old $2500 TV?

I'll post the rest of the story next week after we settle on a final cost for each of us.

Hello again,

Hello again,
I just reread some of the recent stories about the caps. The tech who looked at my TV after I reassembled it, without replacing any caps, said the 100uf 35 volts I had bought would not have worked. the boards a very sensitive to the "speed" of the caps and the wrong ones would have led to other component failures.

I'm still waiting on coming to agreement with Mitsubishi on final cost of the chassis rebuild and reassemble.

We are having the same issues

We are having the same issues with our TV. It is only 2 years old, replaced the bulb 4 months ago. We continue to battle the blinking green to red light issue along with a rattle back by the bulb. If we hit the TV back by the blub it will come on...that's our trick for now. We shouldn't have to beat a 2 yr old TV just to get it to work. Please send the repair docs to [email protected]. Thank you

Could someone sned me the service manual? My wife and I have an electornics background, and I'm going to try and get to the bottom of this once and for all. If I know the test points and tolerances, I can probably fix this thing. Thanks

Larry,

Larry,

Will you please send a copy of the service manual for the wd-52525 to email address [email protected]

Okay, so with the unit

Okay, so with the unit plugged in after chaning the Caps on teh FMT and the DM boards, I get nothing. No light or anything. So, I opened up the chasis again, but only the PSU board this time. I set my MM to 50V DC and tested the 30V test point on the power board. Now this is strange and it leads me to believe the caps are bad on teh power board as well.
The transformer is buzzing, and after abotu a minute I can hear the relays begin to trip. So as I watch the 30V test point, I get a steady 27V, then the relay trips and it spieks to 30 but comes back down to 27. It would go as high as 31V DC and as low as 24V DC. I believe this means the rectifier is broken and is more then likely bad caps not properly discharging and charging. Could be wrong but I ordered the power board caps from mouser ad we will see.

Any other thought? Thanks.

I'm getting the runaround

I'm getting the runaround from Mits and the closest authorized dealer is 1 1/2 hours away in Baltimore (I'm in Northern VA). Has anyone tried sending the Chassis to Ken at www.tv-techs.com in FL? He seems fairly knowledgable/reasonable even though his website is not great. $250 to fix & ship one way seems worth it to get my TV back.

Question: I have a W-52525

Question: I have a W-52525 that I purchased in '05 or so. Luckily I bought an extended warranty from Best Buy and when I had the blinking green light problem they repaired it with a new PCB (power board?)about a year or so ago. Now I have an issue where I can watch the TV and shut it down, the power light will blink during the cool down period and go off. When I get up the next morning, the green light is blinking and the TV will not respond. I can unplug and plug back in and the light will blink for a short time, then go off, THEN I can turn the TV on.

Is this a sign of a developing problem, i.e. board going bad?

Thanks,

Ras

I have the exact same problem

I have the exact same problem with my WD-52525. It will go to endless blinking green randomly. I will unplug it for several seconds and plug it in and it will blink for about one minute and stops. Then, it's back to normal. Endless blinking does not happen every night. Maybe once every two weeks. It would also "freeze up" during channel switching and I have to turn it off and on again with remote control to "reset" it.

Ras & Gary, This is the way

Ras & Gary, This is the way my problem started as well. If it starts becoming more frequent, then I'd start looking to fix the blown caps before it becomes completely more responsive.

Alright. So I replaced the

Alright. So I replaced the two questionable 3300uF, 10v caps on the power board, plugged it back in and now I only get a MAX of 24 Volts on teh 30V test point. The voltage spikes up to 27 after a minute and the relays never trip. I'm guessing there is another problem somewhere on teh power board but now I'm lost.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am having trouble to with

I am having trouble to with my Mitsubishi DLP TV. (WD-52525) My tv lamp blew up in the housing, the remains of the bulb stayed inside the case (nothing is in the TV Chassis). I replaced the TV Bulb and when I plugged it in, I can hear either the power supply(Assuming) or the chassis fans start up, but then shut down continuously for about 5 minutes where after it will just give up and shut down until you plug the tv back into the outlet. The reset button wont work and the Diagnostics doesnt work ( DEVICE + MENU ). Does anyone have any similar problem with this or any information reguarding this issue, I would love to hear it.

Thank you,

OK, I have a bit of a different problem. My WD-52525 turns on with a Blue Screen and a whitish area across the whole screen. It does not recognize any connections from my Blue-Ray, HD-DVR Cable box, or any other connections. From what I have read on other forums, it seems to be BAD capacitors and was told that I need to get an estimate to repair the chasis, then contact Mitsubishi to see if they will cover any of the costs since this is a known issue.

Any suggestions?

My wd-52725 is in the process

My wd-52725 is in the process of being repaired by Mitsubishi.
Repair estimate from authorized repair company was $557. Mits
is paying for the "parts" which is $332 of that.

I've been speaking with Mits Consumer Relations at 800.332.2119.
They've been quick to respond and this is what I recommend for
anyone rather than changing out you're own caps. I changed out
the recommended bad caps and did not fix my problem. Mits is
rebuilding all boards in the electronic chassis.

Mits Consumer Relations has been helpful. I have a reference case #.
Faxed them my original purchase invoice and repair estimate. They
provided me a fax tel# to send them info. They've called me back to
check on status when I failed to send them the fax quickly.

My set was purchases in Jul 2005.

What more do you need? Get a repair estimate (as you said), contact Mitsubishi to

see what they'll cover (as you said). What other kind of suggestions you looking for?

You have your solution at hand. Make the call. Only other thing is that you need your

original purchase receipt to send to Mits.
