Larry, I have a '03 55613 that just started going out. The green power light stays on but the sound and picture go blank. The TV menu will still come up and if I leave the tv on I see lines across the screen. I pushed the device and menu buttons for about 7 seconds and the green light blinks 1-2 or 2-1 (depending on how you're counting...ha ha). My email is [email protected] if you can offer any assistance. thanks.

update: I changed the capacitors on the DM with 1000uf35v from radio shack (seemed like the trend). Now the green light on the front just blinks and blinks and blinks and ...
Very confused.
another update: I brought the DM board into the electronics lab at work. They identified that none of the original capacitors were bad (but now they are replaced anyway), one of the pico fuses was blown (don't know the number right now). They had asked for a schematic so they could trace a couple of things that "were going to ground"? My BS is in ChemE not EE so I have trouble following the lingo.
Hi Larry,
You sent me the Mit DM Board repair file on how to replace the DM caps back on May 12th. I ordered the parts and when I went to install them last week I couldn't find the steel encased DM board as shown in the pics. Not being sure of the boards and without the service manual, I backed out of the repair at the time.
You might have sent me a service manual too but I couldn't find it anywhere in my computer and the email was so old that I couldn't retreive it from hotmail to read it again.
The unit is a Mitsubishi WS-55615. Could you please send it again? Thanks, Steven Evans [email protected]
Hi Larry,
Im sure you get tired of hearing this but you seem to be the best resource out there. I have a mitsubishi ws-55859, and i too have the blinking green light when the tv is plugged in, comes back on after pushing system reset. i was wondering if you could send me the repair manual, or whatever it is you send to everyone that enables them to fix this problem. I would greatly appreciate it, many thanks in advance. my email is [email protected] thanks again.
Can you please send me the info to repair my tv? I have a WD-57731. The timer light blinks for about a minute before it will boot up and eventually turn on. It never used to take that long.
I have perused your docs online and looked through alot of posts relating to the 55613 and it seems you are the keeper of a well regarded the DM removal instructions and service manual for a Mitsubishi 55613. I too am having the steady blinking green light problem, 3rd time actually though this this time its gone on for days. Previously the front panel button swipe cleared up the issue, and the time before that a few hours of steady blinking it cleared itself. Tried the usual incantations, pressed the reset button, cold start after 24 hours, multiple power on/offs - no joy at all.
I have removed the rear cover, the two small screws just below the DA port, and a small screw that holds a black plastic guide on the top. There are two screws on either side of the DM board behind the RF shield that appear to be attached to the DM case and are threaded into the main board but my gut feeling is they dont need to come out to remove the DM.
In any case I picked up 4 1000 microfarad caps at Radio Shack based on what other posters recommended before I came across your articles. I realize now they are rated for 35V at 85C the general consensus is that the heat rating is not high enough so they will be going back. Does the DM really get that hot that a cap rated for 185F wont handle the load? Ive worked on alot of electronic gear in the service and unless it had tubes in it most of my comm gear never ran anywhere near that warm. My usual feeling is replace with what the engineers spec'd but in this case the only real drawback I have heard is the 35V are a snugger fit inside the case but not impossible to use.
Im comfortable with soldering and have a 100Mhz scope so if there are some test points that would tell me its the DM without having to disassemble the case I would just as soon as go that route. I noticed Marks post o the 11th said they found some surface mount caps were bad in his though his symptoms dont match mine exactly.
Either way though please send any docs you have on the 55613 (Jan 2004 MFR date) to [email protected]

I have the Mitshibishi WS55613. Need the info to correct the green blinking light issue.
Larry, I have a Mitsubishi WS65819. Recently, it would not power on with the remote or the manual power button. I tried numerous times. i know it is not the outlet as other devices are are working fine from it. I unplugged it for a few days. When I plugged it back in, I was able to power it up with the remote. This was shortlived. First it would power up, then the power light would come on and blink a few times, then it would come on and turn off after a few seconds and now its back to the original condition where it will not power on at all. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks,

I have the green blinking light issue as well, my husband heard a soft pop when he turned the TV on & it did not show anything on the screen, just the green light blinking. The TV has not worked since. When I turn it on, the green light will be solid for 2-3 seconds, no picture or sound, but I hear clicking sounds and it powers off.
We have reset it, and left it unplugged overnight. After checking out pictures of the DM Board, my TV does not have it where other models do. I don't think my model has one. My Mitsubishi's model # is WS-65819. Do you have a repair manual or spec sheet for it. I've been looking everywhere. Thank you! My e-mail is [email protected]

It seems that my parents (tech challenged) have the dredded MBLOD...Mitsubishi Blinking Light of Death (??) and have found this to be the best spot for sound repair instructions/advice. They have a 1080i HDTV, that after a power-outage, they got the blinking light. They were SURE that it was the DirecTV box that was bad, but after doing some web-digging, I found this is a common problem. They really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars when a trip to Radio Shack and wielding my trusy soldering iron could do the trick.
Can you send me the instructions on how to do this? Thank you in advance for your help...I will keep all informed of my progress!!

Larry! Hope you havent vacated the site...I have an odd one for you!
I have the WS-65513 65" rear projection TV, It turns on fine, and when you select a source, (like input 1 etc) it will show the source for about 30 seconds - beautifully - then the picture goes WAVY from top to bottom with horizontal waves, and it "shuts down" the input signal. No video OR audio - It just goes to a blue screen!
The Menus will all still come up, and are crystal clear, but it will not allow you to view your source UNTIL you re-start the TV. When you turn it back on, it again will allow viewing of the source for about 20-30 seconds and once again go "wavy" and to a blue screen...
Is this the "infamous" capacitor problem, and if so, which ones?
I have also been told there could be a problem with the 9 volt regulator IC behind the input board... would you know what component number this is to make it easier to track down??
I am hoping your repair instructions might shed some light on this one for me, as i am stumped!
Any help is greatly appriciated!
I heard from Larry a couple of days ago. Apparently he had a tumor removed. I hope he is recovering well.
I have the same MBLOD and the instuctions and service manual for my ws 65908. My problem is that I cannot locate the dm board. The instructions I have show a box to the left of all the other circuit boards. My model does not have that. I've looked at all the boards, and I just don't see anything that looks like the DM board or ever the capacitors (rated 1000).
Does anyone have any clues? I'm about ready to start throwing things. I really should be able to figure this out.
ok, upon further inspection, someone has already taken out the DM board and changed out the 4 caps. I have re-soldered the 9v regulator, and still no luck. It will still turn on, play both picture and audio beautifully for about 30 seconds or so, and then the screen gets wavy and it will make a "pop" thru the audio lose the picture, and switch to a blue screen! I can then select ANY source, and they will ALL be blue screen, UNTIL I turn the set off, and then back on - then I will get the 30 seconds worth of working tv. AAAARRRGH! I am wondering if the previous owner killed the Dm board or something? does this even sound like a dm problem?? When it goes to blue screen the menus are all still plainly visible, and look perfect, so I know theres no CRT problems, and the convergence is good too! Help!! I love this TV -- Save the MITSU!
