Larry,

Larry,

I also have a Mitsubishi WS-65813 rear projection TV that won't turn on and has the flashing green light. I understand that 4 of the capacitors need to be replaced on the DM board. Can you send me the information I need toreplace the capacitors along with a service manual for the TV?

Thanks,

Alex

Larry,

Larry,

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65713 rear projection TV that has the blinking green light problem that has been discussed many times in this forum.  I am an electronic technician by trade so pc board repair work and ordering parts from electronic distributors is not a problem.  I would greatly appreciate any information (picts, manuals,schematics,...etc) you may have for my modle tv.  My e-mail address is [email protected].  Thanks in again for any help you can provide me.

Larry,

Larry,

Is it important to put the DM shield back?

Thanks,

Joseph

You really should put

You really should put everything back where it was. Believe you me, the Japanese do not use anything they do not have to. It is there for a good reason.

Larry, I have a WS-55513 with a blinking led problem.  I'm assuming it's the same problem everyone else is having.  When I plug the set in, I get a green blinking led.  It never stops blinking.  If I leave it plugged in for 24 hours, it blinks for 24 hours.  Would you please send me the necessary information on how to fix this problem.  I can't replace capictors, but I have friends who can!  Thanks!

Larry,

Larry,

Sorry, I forgot to post my email. It is [email protected]. Again, thank you for any help that you can provide regarding the green blinking light problem on my Mitsubishi WS-65813. I have the regular user manual, and can not find the service manual.

That is because the

That is because the manufacturer does not provide a service manual with the TV set, that is why you cannot find it. They only provide a user manual. I will certainly send you out the documents and the service manual alter this morning. Good Luck with the repair.

Larry,

Larry,

I replaced the capacitors on the board and have checked the fuses on the DM board.  Both are in good working order......but I still have the green blinking light.

Any recommendations on what to do now?

Mike, check the small fuses

Mike, check the small fuses in the main power supply labled on the printed circuit board as F9A02, F9A03, F9A04, and F9A05. Let me know if any of these were open. Also, double check and make sure that you seated the DM back down onto the Printed Circuit board. I have had this happen several times in the past.

Well, it's official.  I am

Well, it's official.  I am your fan-girl for life!  We got the capacitors in the mail, pulled the board (all 4 capacitors had "popped"), took it to my husband's friend who repairs computer boards for a living who replaced the capacitors and we put the board back in last night and it's working again!  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  Hubby will probably be posting later to thank you too.  (Incidently the first time he put the board back it didn't work, so he removed the board again, checked all the fuses (they were good), checked everything else, and took greater care putting the board back in again, making sure the guides and everything else lined up right, and the second time the light blinked for 70 seconds and then went out, and when he powered the TV on it fired right up just fine, so I guess he didn't have it seated down on the circuit board properly the first time).

Anyway, bottom line ... for one dollar plus shipping for parts, and a case of beer to his friend we saved close to $1000 to fix a set that is only 2 years old!  Again, thank you!

leday, great news. I am glad

leday, great news. I am glad you got the TV set repaired. Don't forget to look at the service manual and take out the front screen and clean the lens and the mirror. A lot of times it can make the set look a lot better.

Yup.  He did that while he

Yup.  He did that while he was in there.  The picture looks beautiful...MUCH clearer.  Amazing how much dust accumulates inside that thing!  Thanks so much.

Yes it is amazing how it can

Yes it is amazing how it can make a difference. Glad you followed the direction properly. I just heard from someone else also who's TV did not work till I suggested reinstalling the DM board.

Again thank you for all your

Again thank you for all your help.  One question, to avoid this trouble in the future, can you recommend a good battery BackUPS unit that would work for my model TV (WS 65713) to avoid damage from the (it seems) frequent brown-outs that we seem to be getting here?  A surge protector just didn't cut it.  I really don't want this to happen again if I can avoid it.

Larry,  Just an update FYI.

Larry,  Just an update FYI.  I got my capacitors in the mail and had a friend replace the bad capacitors for me.  I was careful on reinstallation to seat the board properly and presto...my TV works again!  YOU DA MAN!  By the way, my friend knows I'm electrically illiterate and wanted to know how I knew what the problem was.  I directed him to your web site.  He is now a fan as well.  Many thanks and Merry Christmas.

Yawtzee, this model is a

Yawtzee, this model is a little different, or maybe I should say a lot different then the other models that have a bad DM. These sets do as well have bad capacitors in the DM, but there are seven(7) capacitors instead of four(4). you MUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER AND REPLACE ALL SEVEN CAPACITORS. Even if they do not look bad, replace them. They only cost about 50 cents a pop. Good luck with this repair. I will send you the information later this evening.

Hey Larry, great news! I got my WS-65813 back up and running thanks to you! Had a friend solder the capacitors onto the DM board, reinstalled it and BAM. 60 second wait time and then it turned on. Cleaned off the CRT guns and the picture looks even better than it did before. You have been a real life saver and have helped all these people save tons of money. Its good to have fellows like you around. I love DIY.

Larry,  I too have the WS-65813 and have the blinking light issue.  Can you send me the manual to fix?  I don't even know where to locate the DM.  I'm about ready to trash this tv with all the issues it has had.

Thanks,

larry, i finally got around

larry, i finally got around to fixing my WS-55513 with the information that you provided and now my TV works! total cost was 15 bucks for parts and special tools. i just wanted to tell you thanks a million. if it wasnt for nobel people like you showing people like us how to do it ourselves we would all be taken advantage of by over priced repair man and extended back order DM boards. Has Mitsubishi reconized that this is an world wide epic problem and that there systems have major flaws in there DM board design. My roommate bought a WD-73732 May 07 and his DM board failed 5 months later granted it was still under warranty but it doesnt dismiss the fact that in 2007 Mitsubishi is still producing the same defected DM board design with the same flaws.  Mitsubishi needs to be dealt with accordingly. Thanks again Larry for all your help !

FYI, in my absolution to fix my TV, i found some good info on the background of the DM board hope it helps.
