Video Playback / Recording Devices

I'M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE DVD.  YOU CAN HEAR THE DVD, BUT THERE IS NO PICTURE AT ALL.

Can anybody help me. I have bought an Liteon HDD/DVD Recorder model 5045 and have connected it to a Sony KD-28DX51U tv via scart leads.

My problem is how do I pick up and record digital freeview. I have tried just about all the instructions in the manual all to no avail.

I have a budget cyberhome CH-DVD 402 player that I bought a couple of years ago in the uk which played fine there on a small tv. I've now shifted to New Zealand and hooked it up to a Mitsubishi 29" tv CT-29AB1 that I bought in NZ about 10 years ago. I've connected it to the AV2 composite connections and it works ok, at first. Then part way through a movie the top of the screen can be seen to distort a litttle, then it will start banding or flicking intermittently, until watching a film becomes unbearable.
