Hello! I am a new user, just

Hello! I am a new user, just signed up tonight. I've been reading through this post and it seems you Larry are a very popular man and very generous with helping. I myself have a Mitsubishi WS-55513. I was having intermittment problems with the audio/video just cutting out on any input and going to a black screen with very small color "squiggly lines"(TV menus and volume bar were not visible during this also.) . I could sometimes turn off the TV and back on and it'd be fine. Well just the other night the audio and video were dead but I had the normal blue input screen instead and could access the menu and see all the TV's menus but still noticed a slight "wavy" effect on screen. Long story short, I tried unplugging and the system reset but now I am getting the constant green flash. Is my problem most likely this dread DM module problem? If that may be my case, could you send me this repair techinique and files I'd need to fix myself? It's be much appreciated!! Send any info I may need to [email protected]

P.S. Sorry for the story book. I'm not too good at shortening things up.  :P

Larry Dillon
nighcore, You most likely

nighcore, You most likely have a different problem then what you had before but yes you should of course try the obvious first. I will send you the factory service manual and the detailed instructions on how to replace the DM capacitors for this model. Good Luck with the repair.

Wow! Very nice and quick

Wow! Very nice and quick response! Thanks in advance and I will be awaiting the e-mail!

P.S. Any suggestions on the best place to get the caps? Or possibly a local place that might carry them like Radio Shack or some other retail chain? I'll call a local place here tomorrow and check. :)

Thanks again! I'll keep you posted on the repair and if the caps repair all my previous and current problem.. :)

Larry Dillon
You certainly can use Radio

You certainly can use Radio Shack capacitors but I do recommend the high temp types and YES there is a link for capacitors in the e-mail i am sending.

Ok. Got my board removed and

Ok. Got my board removed and everything. Question is my local radioshack has 25V 1000uf capacitors but they are only 85 degrees ones. Would they still be ok because I know I've read some people using a higher voltage. My main concern I guess is that they are only 85 degree caps. Other than that, a local TV place will sell me the 16v 105 degree ones for $6 a piece. :P I know it's still not expensive compared to replacing the DM module, but I'm cheap either way. LOL!

Ans also, is there a trick to getting the old ones off? I can't seem to work desoldering braid very well or something.

Larry Dillon
6 bucks a piece! OMG are they

6 bucks a piece! OMG are they ripping you off! Those capacitors cost about 50 to 85 cents. Yes the Radio Shack capacitors will work just fine. As far as the desoldering. You have one chance to do this right. If you do not have the experience soldering, don't be cheap, pay a pro to do the unsoldering and re soldering. It is way to easy to ruin the printed circuit board. Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish my friend. Besides, if it cost you 50 bucks or so, that certainly is a lot better the 800 to 1000 bucks, or perhaps having to buy a new TV set. See my point?
