Television and Home Theater

I have discovered while watching TV that there is a "swipe" going thru the middle of my screen ( it appears to be a light purple hue) you cannot see it on the sceen while the TV is off.  I asked my cleaning lady if she had used anything on the screen and she claims not to have.  I used a clean cotton clothe and gently wiped across the whole screen with no results.  Could the screen be damaged from a cleaning product and if so, is there a solution ? Or could it possibly be something else.  I have only had the TV 2yrs.

HI everyone. I own a 53" sony CRt tv. I love this set other than i can't seem to get the red or as my wife says pinkish color to go away. The whites have a pinkish tone that i just can't get rid of. Maybe it's just my imagination, but just when i think i got it, when i shut it off and turn it back on, the next day, the pink is back. Watched the three stooges which is in black and white, not on my set .....it was black and pinkish white.

 It looks like a cold join to me.  Any suggestions where to look and what to do?
