Television and Home Theater

I have had this tv for several years.  Yesterday i left and it was working fine, today i can't power it on.  there is no sound, no response at all from the power button.  i was thinking maybe the power supply died. i tried a universal remote to see if it was just the power button on the set that was dead and no luck. Any Suggestions?

I'm experiencing bands of color (green, yellow, purple) around the perimiter of the picture, 2-3 inches wide and maybe a little more in the corners.  Center of picuure appears normal. Just started doing it yesterday. Don't have the owners manual or remote anymore. Otherwise, the picture is ok. I've seen one other user on a different forum that had a similar problem, but didn't see any responses.

My JVC AV-48WP30 is about 5 years old.  This morning I turned it on and green horizontal lines that bend towards the four corners of the screen appeared.  The picture is still there but the colors are shadowed and the number of green lines seem to be greater under lighter objects appearing on TV.  (I.E.- faces, white shirts).  I looked at the convergence screen but all the crosses show proper alignment.  Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Especially anything I could do to it myself..
