Television and Home Theater

My 7-8 year old Sony Wega's picture started this weekend to take a few attempts of turning the TV on before the picture would work, and the quality was good when it did come on.  All the volume still works, today I still get volume, but no picture.  I am suspecting that this is a bad tube, there are not signals in terms of blinking on stand by indicator.  Any help or suggestions would be welcome.

We purchased a magnavox TV Model # 27MS4504/17 two years ago however we just got it out of the box and set it up yesterday, needless to say it is out of warranty. It turned on fine and was working for about 5 minutes. It then los sound and eventually the vertical hold on the picure was off also. We have un plugged and replugged in as well as re connected the antenna to no avail. Does anyone have any idaes about what is the problem or is this a repairable problem vs. replace the set problem?

i come home today to turn on my tv. 30 second later it shut off and was blinking. i went to the owner manuel. no helpl so i deceide to go onto the web to search for help. found your. i court the blink on the tv. it has 8 blink. i read some off the advise that u give other. sound like a bad crt or a d broad. have not gotten the chance to remove to see if it had leak onto the d board. any advise would greatly help me.
