My 7-8 year old Sony Wega's picture started this weekend to take a few attempts of turning the TV on before the picture would work, and the quality was good when it did come on. All the volume still works, today I still get volume, but no picture. I am suspecting that this is a bad tube, there are not signals in terms of blinking on stand by indicator. Any help or suggestions would be welcome.
This could be lots of things in this set. The most common is the vertical sweep circuit stopped working and when this happens the set blanks the picture as to not damage the picture tube. As to finding exactly wrong with the TV set, you would need to look at the service manual and check the vertical then check the to see if you have High Voltage. I cannot tell you how to do this without a model number and you need to know all about how the circuit works. This is not a repair job I'm afraid for the novice. Play it safe and call in an experienced repair tech to diagnose and repair this TV set for you. Good Luck
I have a Sony KV32XL90E 3 YEARS OLD and have the problem SOUND IS BUT NO PICTURE and the Stand By/Timer light blinks 16 times, pauses and then does it again. i was trying TV ON once after one week again and was getting picture but next day did not work again, seems like there is some part tired with 3 years and not giving enough power to get picture anymore. Any solution?
