Television and Home Theater

I have a off brand 42" Plasma, Harsper (Samsung components), the picture is perfect to start with, but after awhile (could be 1 hour or could be fine for 4 hours), the screen gets very distorted.  It's hard to decscribe what it's doing, but looks like a negative picture from film in a camera.  I have a picture at the following link

I just bought a 50 inch Samsung DLP/HDTV.  Should I buy the warranty? I hear most warranties aren't needed or used because the tv just last longer.  Is it worth the extra money?  Its 4 yrs for $ 200.00  Any info is appreciated.

Could use some advice or help, whichever. I have a 1998 Zenith 60 inch big screen projection TV. About a month ago, the picture started producing lines in the picture. We would unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug the power cord back in. The TV would do fine. It did this about 3 times in a week. With no other occurances of any kind.
