This is admittedly a hastily written article but I felt I needed to get some thoughts down and share with the TechLore community. As we turn the calendar to start the new year, it occurs to me that 2006 just might the Year of Portable Video. I know, I say that every year but there are more viable options than ever before and consumers - having gotten comfortable with cameras in their phones, making calls over the Internet, and time-shifting TV - are finally ready to take a real look at video on the go.
1.)The metal pads will last the longest (I want one)
2.) The really cheap 20 dollar pads wear out quickly
3.) Getting the dance pads with the zipper in foam liner makes dancing way more comfortable
4.) Some of the better pads (around the 80 dollar price range) are so sensitive you will do better if you don't stand in the center of the pad, but balance between moves on the left and right arrows.
5.) No pad is effective when your dog is also trying to dance on the pad at the same time. (She just doesn't get it, it looks like so much fun, why can't she play also?)
Suggestion:
If you are not sure how much you will play start with a pad in the 30 dollar range that has zip in foam padding. If you find you will play it a lot, try to get a metal one.
I'm currently deciding whether to purchase a DLP/Plasma/LCD, and I want know what black level actually is? I know it has something to do with brightness... Is there any distinction between brightness and black level, or is it just a synonym?
My son's Playstation 2 was working fine last night. He just got it, and this morning it is saying the disc could not be read. I have tried some of the fixes posted on the site, but it's still not working.
