Green light of DEATH

I have a Mitsubishi WS 55813 TV While watching a show the Tv turns off and now all I get to look at is a green flashing LED.It did this once befoe but after 4 hrs of blinking it decided to revive itself, NOT this time. I tried your (menu-Device )keypress with no results. I have read many of your Articles and am standing ready with soldiering iron in hand ready to repair. Could you please send me any detailed information as to properly remove the chasis to access he power supply ,(if thats where you think my problem is) and any pictures and/or Schematics needed to properly identify the problem. My email is [email protected]. Any other info or suggestions is greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much in advance.

Your problem, very well could

Your problem, very well could be the power supply, but in 65 to 70% of these blinking light cases, it is a 1200 dollar repair needed to get your set working again. I will of course, if your able to follow directions, to send you the documents i have to repair whats called the DM board. You seem like a bright enough person, as most do not realize, or tell me where to send the info, so i have to ask where they would like it sent to. Good Luck with this repair.

Larry, I posted a comment on

Larry, I posted a comment on another thread a couple of days ago - and completely did not pay attention to the fact that there was a tv model number in the thead title.  The tv that I am having problems with is the WS-55813.  You sent me the information for the model that was being discussed in the other thread.  If you would send me the instructions for this model I would be so appreciative.  Sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for the help.  My email address is [email protected].

Larry can I just use 1000uf 35v capacitors for the Ws55813 or do I need to use the 1000uf 16v caps to fix the dm module?

zapdbf
that would work electrically,

that would work electrically, but the space is tight, they may not physically fit.

LARRY!!!

LARRY!!!

You are the man!!!!!! I just changed out the capacitors for the Ws55813 with1000uf 35v capacitors and did a system reset and I am now watching Discovery channel again!!!!!! How can I repay you??? I am going on a two day fishing trip tomorrow... yeahhh Grouper!!! I am so happy!!!! Your the best!!!!!!!

The space was a little tight but I did it very slowly and it worked out!! I saved $1200.00!!!!!

That is the first time I soldered as well. I am a network engineer but not an electric engineer.  Off to tv and a brew!!

If anyone needs documents or any soldering advice please let me know.

Well.. this morning it turns

Well.. this morning it turns on but the volume control does not work. It will not turn up from the remote control. If I do it from the tv it turns up a litttle, the screen goes black then returns to the previous volume level. I can hear it but barely....

Larry Dillon
If the TV set blinks with

If the TV set blinks with volume level, there is a capacitor in the power supply that provides the voltage for the audio output IC going bad, or the audio output ic is bad. I do not have a clue why this is for you now. I have seen stranger problems then this.

We also have the "green light of death" on a 65 inch Mitsu tv.  Sounds like the same thing.  Hubby is an engineer and can fix most things but told me he needs a schematic or instructions.  Could you please email me these instructions as well?  If I can't find some I'm afraid his foot will be in that tv before too long.  [email protected]    Thank you so much!!!!  The model number is WS65513.

Todd, you can look at the

Todd, you can look at the schematic and find the power leads on the audio IC and see what power supply goes to the IC and go back to the power supply and locate it there.

Has anyone ever thought of a

Has anyone ever thought of a class action lawsuit against Mitsubishi ? The tv costs $4,000 then two and a half years later it dies and it needs a $1200.00 part and if you do not have an extended warranty you are screw#$??? That just does not seem fare. I just got rid of a Sony tube tv that I had for 22 years because the color was fading...

Think about it..

Larry,

Larry,

I was wondering if I can get those instructions for replacing the capacitors for the Mitsubishi 65 inch model WS65513?  My email is [email protected].  Any info would be appreciated.  Can the dm board be taken out of the tv for repair?  My husband has people at work that could solder these new capacitors much easier than to try it at home. Thanks so much for your help!!!

 Todd,

I would be interested if we can't get this thing fixed.  We had two previous Mitsu's, both 35", and they lasted a long time.  I think it is these big, hdtv's that are screwed up.  We have had trouble with this one since we bought it.  It has always had that blinking light and it would turn itself off right from the beginning.

Larry Dillon
Todd, can you follow a

Todd, can you follow a schematic? If not e-mail me. And about the class action. They say their warranty is for 1 year on parts and labor. What's that mean? For ONE YEAR, they will cover all parts and labor. This is why an extended warranty is also available for these cases. They cannot be fortune tellers and tell how long anything will last. If someone did file a class action law case against them. the most that would happen, because of their warranty being very well written, they MIGHT, just might agree to give anyone who sends in the proof of a repair, receive a $50 gift certificate, good for one year, towards the purchase of another product made by them. RCA had a very similar problem with their TV sets for many years and someone did this law suite thing and that's all the folks got. It would be a total waist of time my friend. That's why you must really consider the extended warranty at the time of sale for an expensive purchase. You really do not need one for the sets less the a few hundred bucks.  Go to http://www.techlore.com/article/14812/Extended-Warranties---Do-I-Really-Need-One-/ and read an article I have posted here on the site. It may open your eyes as well as a few others who think they are being ripped off. You are the one who bought the TV set with the ONE year warranty, right? The warranty cannot be extended to suite ones own interest. It simply does not work like that in the real world.  You get what you agreed to when you bought your TV set I'm afraid. I really do not want to sound harsh, but I have heard this lawsuit thing a lot, and peeps got to remember, nobody twisted anybody's arm to buy this TV set with the ONE year warranty. Unless you have more cash then the manufactirer, bite the bullet and get on with life.  Cool
