Ok so I renewed my warranty

Ok so I renewed my warranty so that I wouldn't have to pay for the repair (I did have to pay for the renewal) this is what I've found out so far. DLP TV parts are no longer available. The board you need to get to takes a tech that knows what he is doing about two hours to get to. If you fix the problem there are like 4 to 6 other boards that could go out afterwards so it could be that would be not worth the trouble. Maybe that's why they don't make these tvs anymore--you think! Lucky the tech I had doesn't want the hassel either so he is gonna write up the order so we can get a Best Buy credit from the store (since the tv is only 4 years old) and use that towards getting a new tv. The only other way according to the geek sqauad tech was to take out the board send it back to Mitsibitchi wait for them to fix it then send it back and get it put back into your tv and for this to all be done would take a couple months. Then to top it off another board could go out after that--no thanks. But there is a way to rig your set to power on for the meantime you have to unplug the power then plug it back in then hit the reset button. Tech says don't buy a plasma too many issues with them better off with a LCD.

I had gone into my boards and replaced all the suspect caps, only to find out I did not fix the problem.  I also discovered my extended warranty was still good.  TV is 4 years 3 months old and warranty was a 4 year warranty.  I thought was expired but warranty company said warranty starts after MFG expires.  That was good news.   The warranty company contracted a local TV fixit company to come and do the work.  Warranty comp.  had them replace the entire chassis.  Which is 4 circuit boards in the bunch.  Fix it man was in and out in one hour and cost me $0.  So the parts do exist.   Online here in the Resource section under Technicians Corner is downloadable parts lists and stuff.  Worth looking into for part numbers and advice.   As far as plasmas go.   I have a 42" Samsung that is going on 6 years old and have never had one problem with it.  I had heard that they were problematic when I bought it, but have been pleasently surprized.    Sorry for the spelling I suck at that and did not paste from Word.   Good luck.

this is what worked for me.

this is what worked for me.

1). Plugged TV into a power strip.
2). With TV plugged in, light blinking i pressed the system reset button and held
it in while i turned the strip off then back on again and contiued to hold the reset for another 30 seconds.

When i released the reset the light blinked for about 2 minutes the stopped and the TV turned on. I have not had a problem sense then.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55809.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55809. The other night it shut itself off and will not power back on. When the power button is pressed, the green light turns on and it clicks then about 2 second later clicks again and the green light turns off.

The TV had been having convergence moments for several months, but would always seem to sync itself and display a good picture. I am not sure if our is DM related or not, but I'd like to know what to look for if we opened it up to determine what has failed.

This seems like an old thread, but I see recent posts. I would be very grateful if someone could the directions on how to fix a bad DM. Please send it to my email address, [email protected].

Thank you in advance, Numbuzz

Larry, I got the SVC manual

Larry, I got the SVC manual for my Wt-42315. I do not see exactly which board is the DM module. It did not see "DM" module shown on the drawings. Which of the three main boards is it on, Power, Main, or Signal? By the way looks like you have been helping everyone out with this for a while. Thanks for your willingness to help.
thanks again!

Hey Larry!

Hey Larry!

I think you may have saved my wife from the dog house. Out of all the times she has vacuumed the carpet in 8 years, she decided to plug into the power strip that my WS55859 was plugged into. Well as soon as she attempted to power on the vacuum it triped the power strip. Soon after that she asked why the TV was blinking - DOH!! Anyway, could you please send me the directions to replace the caps. Thanks!

PS. I know, I know...I have an old TV and I should get it replaced anyway, but I really am happy with this unit ;)

Larry Dillon
Nope, you must go and hug

Nope, you must go and hug/kiss the wife and tell her you love her and that you are Sorrry for blaming her for breaking the TV Set as she did not do it!!!!!! the first symptom is when the set loses power ,like a storm or black/brownout the set will only blink so that could not have caused this TV to go bad this problem does NOT happen instantly, this is a fault that takes awhile to show yo unless you LOSE POWER!!!!!on you set but The best advice I can tell you is to go to tvrepairkits.com and order the blinking light kit for your model of set, the kit comes with the high temperature/ high frequency/long life 105 Celsius type capacitors (not those cheap Radio Shack caps) full easy to follow pictorial directions, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem, all kits are shipped out within 24 hours in most cases, 2 to 3 day Priority mail. GOOD LUCK!!
Larry Dillon remember she did NOT cause THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have a Mitsubishi WD

I also have a Mitsubishi WD-52525 with the same timer light blinking with the tv powering off. I've tried the system reset numerous times and have the tv plugged into a surge protector - to no avail.

I just scheduled an authorized Mitsubishi tv repair tech to come out to the house in 3 days - tv is 52" and we'd rather pay the $171 for the home service call, then take the chance on hauling the tv 20 miles each way to the shop and being without the tv for another 2-3 days. Oh and this charge doesn't include parts and labor!

Unfortunately, I see the probable cause/fix you recommend, but neither my husband nor I are tech savy to try to do it ourselves.

Should I be concerned that the authorized tech. will charge me $700 to fix the tv? I'm afraid of getting a local "Joe" who does our other home repair items to try the soldering fix you suggest. I know you don't go to the auto repair shop and bring the parts and tell the repairman how to fix it. Therefore, I probably shouldn't tell the authorized tech to bring the soldering iron and the Radio Shack parts.....

I just don't want to get ripped off after seeing the probable fix on this site.... Looking for some practical advice....

Thanks!

Hello Larry,

Larry,

Larry,

I have a Mitsubishi WD-52525 that has ten bad 1000 ufs caps on three different boards. I want to order replacements but not sure which type. I read somewhere that the 1000 ufs caps are 16 volt, would switching them out for a higher voltage matter (25-35 volt)? I know that I should keep them the same size (10mm x 15mm), but a couple of the website are backordered 12-16 weeks for the same size. All IÂ’m basically saying is that IÂ’m very confused. Your help is very much appreciated.

Thank you,

It looks as though I am late to this issue, but I am another victom of the flashing green light. Only mine issue is slightly different. I have a Mits WS55613 when I go to turn it on, I get a blinking green light for about 45 seconds or so and then it goes out. If I hit the on button again nothing happens at all. If I unplug it for a minute and plug it back in, the green light blinks for a minute and a half or so (probably a reset mode) and then goes off. If I hit the on button after that, most of the time it will come on and I can watch TV. Although occasionaly I will need to do the unplugging proceedure two or three times to get it to come on. Is this the same bad caps issue and if so do you still have the repair instructions that you could send?
Thanks Bob [email protected]

Everyone - I'd like to know

Everyone - I'd like to know how to find someone local who will do the repairs mentioned in this discussion WITHOUT charging me $700 - $800?

I had an authorized Mitsubishi repair tech come out to my house - that charge JUST to come out and make an initial diagnosis was $171!

The estimate he gave me to fix all the capacitors (which are bad in several places....) is between $700-$800!

I'd like to find a "handyman" who knows how to use the soldering gun like is mentioned in this forum.... I can't use a soldering gun, but have no clue on how to find someone local who can.... Any ideas????

I don't want to put the tv on the curb if the fix is less than $100 or will a handyman charge me much more.....?????

LARRY, can you please send me the fix??? ([email protected])
