Mitsubishi WS-65813 Blinking Green Light

Larry & Riley, I received the WS-65813 service manual that you sent and replaced the 4 CAPS on the DM Module with 1000uF, 35V, 105c capacitors. Verified cap polarity and proper solder connections. Upon power up, have the same issue: continuous "Blinking Green Light". Reset button has no effect. The unit makes NO unusual sounds. Could the eeprom board be bad. Is it labeled "E2P" on the DM circuit board. Any suggestions regarding where I might obtain a replacement eeprom or other circuit board parts. Do you have any additional troubleshooting advice. Your suggestions are appreciated.

By way of information, I sent a letter to Mitsubishi's Consumer Relations Department with a copy to Mitsubishi's President and CEO discussing this issue.  [email protected]

Follow the repair procedure discussed in this Article to replace bad capacitors. A service manual link is provided for those in need of a Mitsubishi Service Manual for your specific Model.
Good luck in the repair.

Speed, You will need to

Speed, You will need to contact an authorized Mitsubishi parts house and ask them, as the manual does not even have a schematic or parts list for the DM board, only a part number for the entire board. I have never replaced the eeprom board in one of these TV sets. If the Caps do not fix the problem, I'm afraid the only option is to replace the DM. Good Luck

Larry, I now have the

Larry, I now have the Mitsubishi WS-65813 television up and running. The "blinking green light" issue has been resolved.

Lesson Learned: For your information and others, after replacing the 4 capacitors on the DM Module, I slid the DM circuit board back into the metal DM case and then inserted the entire unit into the main circuit board. This was working in the "blind" as it was impossible to verify a proper seat of the DM circuit board onto the mother board.  The blinking green light was still present upon power-up of the TV. I again removed the DM module from the TV and this time I re-installed the DM circuit board onto the main mother board and THEN installed the DM metal case over the top of the circuit board. By doing this, I was able to ensure a proper connection of the DM board. Upon power-up the TV is UP and RUNNING.

Thank you for your assistance.

My six year old t.v.

My six year old t.v. Mitsubishi WS65513 doesn't power on anymore. I am having the same blinking timer light problem. I tried clicking the reset button but no luck. I went and talked to a t.v. repair man and he said it could be the power supply where he would need to replace three circuit boards and it would cost between $400-$800. I had a different problem with it three years ago where the t.v. would just turn off for no reason and that cost me $500. I was just about to get rid of it until I saw this sight. I have a couple of question. What is the location of the circuit board with the blown capacitors? You mentioned the type of capacitors to replace them with could you let me know what they are? Also, how delicate is the circuit board to heat? I have had some experience soldering small circuit board connection. What should I be careful with when replacing these circuit borads? I would appreciate it if you could send me the instructions along with my circuit board questions. My e-mail address is [email protected]

Thank you so much. You are a life saver. Hopefully I won't have to buy a new t.v.

Larry and new friends -

Larry and new friends -

I have a WS-55613 with this same blinking green LED light continuously flashing away.  It started the morning of Tuesday.  The television was working TIP TOP and I had just had ATT's U-verse put in over the weekend and was still blown away of the clarity of the HD channels.  I felt my 3 year old tv was still better than all that plasma stuff.

The next morning my fiance went to turn it on and it just went into flashing LED mode and does not do anything else.  I have pretty much spent a few hours reading and I am certain it's these capacitors on the DM module and I am just aching to spend the weekend repairing it.

Larry, would you please send me the great work you've completed on successfully repairing this DM module that everybody is talking about?  please send it to [email protected]

I can't tell you enough how helpful it would be.  BY chance do you have any Fry's Electronics or Radioshack part numbers to these capacitors that have proven to be effective in repairing this module handy?  I could just start calling these stores and making sure they have them.  I believe this model tv has 7 total that I should change, correct?

Thank you SO much in advance.  I'm excited about getting my Mitsu and repairing its issues.

To Jon -

To Jon -

Everybody, I did the cap swap on my WS-55613 and it couldn't have been any easier.  A simple swap and it cleared my problem up and I was enjoying CRYSTAL clear HD football all Sunday with my fiance and some Oktoberfests.

It was SO simple and I can NOT believe that TV repair people charge up to $700+ dollars for this repair.  The hardest part about it is the simple fear that you think it is harder than you think.

Go buy 16V OR 25V 1000uf 105C caps at any store that sells capacitors.  DO NOT get the 85C, they MUST MUST MUST be high temp.  the 25V just work harder and better.  Like installing a supercharger in your engine.

Simple swap, you should practice first by taking off a cap off an old remote control or old electronic that is lying around, you will get the soldering iron down quick.  If not, GO TO A NEARBY FLEA MARKET, there are trades men EVERY where that will do it for next to nothing.  I did mine myself with the help of my brother.

I installed them, swapped the tv on, and within 1 minute the blinking green light stopped blinking...and viola...crystal HD viewing.  Jon, you saved my bank account.

People, total cost:  $8.74 for all 4 caps and roughly 4 - 5 hours of time, with driving, breaks in between and actual soldering time.

GOOD LUCK and yes, get Larry's diagram, it does help.
