my 65"hitachi projection

my 65"hitachi projection makes a rapid snapping/cracking sounnd then shuts off and comes back on again. Also when it does this it makes a hissing sound. Any suggestions as to the problem

You have a high voltage

You have a high voltage transformer or the high voltage distribution block is bad. If you have no TV repair experience, or know the safety facts about high voltage in a TV set, you really should play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair. This set has enough high voltage inside it to kill you. Not worth  that to save a few bucks. Good Luck

I have a Mitsubishi CK-3514R

I have a Mitsubishi CK-3514R which suddenly has no sound.  Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Larry Dillon
Yes, if you have no TV repair

Yes, if you have no TV repair experience, call in a pro. You probably have a mad capacitor in the sweep power supply causing this problem. Not a repair I'm afraid fro a novice. Good Luck

Larry Dillon said: I would write Best Buys customer service department and complain that they are selling sets that by law, they are suppose to support for three years or replace the TV set. Do not let them fool you. if this does not get you anywhere, call the State Attorneys off and file a complaint. You will get an answer from best buy. they will all of a suddenly come up with a board for your set, or a new TV set. Good Luck.

Thanks so much for your reply and suggestion.  I am currently reseaching to find the law that you refer to.  The latest from Best Buy is "we are not responsible if the manufacturer is no longer making the parts."  I am also researching to see who the manufacturer is, as so far, they have been unable to tell me.  I now have the number of the part, which unfortunately is for the main board, as they do not replace individual parts only complete boards.  They still are unable to tell me how to find it, or how to find service for the tv.  Will keep you posted on my progress.  Thanks again.

   I have a older Magnavox 52

I have a older Magnavox 52" projection tv Model # RL8564 AK04. It was manufactured in 1991. I really love this tv, but a problem has arrisen. The picture is dark, and no matter what I do with the settings, I can't get it to lighten up. lso, the picture has a red tint and the whites are sort of luminescent. It's to big and heavy to take to a shop, and I've found only one person who will come to the house, and he charges $75. an hour...Any suggestions? Thanks

You will need new picture

You will need new picture tubes I'm afaraid. These will noit be cheap to replace. The set is not worth puting that much money into it. Good Luck

My ws-55807 went totally

My ws-55807 went totally "blue" yesterday. When I went to menu the words were

different colors and 3-d like. My convergence would not respond?? Could not enter advanced convergence, the tv said press info? All that did was explain how to configure....

Larry Dillon
Sounds like you need to first

Sounds like you need to first replace the convergence IC's an then trouble shoot the voltages in the power supplies as it sounds like the convergence IC's might have blow a circuit protector or two.  Most of the time when a convergence amp shorts out on a Mitsubishi TV set, it will blow out a small device that acts as a fuse in the output of the power supply called a circuit protectors or some people call then pico fuses. Good Luck

Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

Mitsubishi WS-65513

Chassis: V23

Thanks for the service manual. I replaced the four DM capacitors in my tv, without any improvement.

I decided to pull out the main chassis and found one of the convergence amplifiers to be leaking what appears to be oil; also there wasn't any heatsink paste between the convergence amplifer and the heatsink.

My questions are should both convergence amplifiers be replaced, could this be causing wavy lines on the screen, and the tv to loose video.

Convergence amplifier (1)  Ref: IC8C01; Part #: HIC - STK394-250

Convergence amplifier (2) Ref: IC8C02; Part #: HIC - STK394-250

Thanks,

burick

Larry Dillon
No your problem is the

No your problem is the convergence IC's and then you will need to repair the bad seal on the leaking picture tube. That oil is coolant from a leaky picture tube.

My Symphonic TV comes on for

My Symphonic TV comes on for about 1 second and then turns itself off. But if I keep pressing the on button a flash comes to the screen. Is there a shortage in the plug or do I need to buy another TV?

Larry Dillon
Frank, you probably have

Frank, you probably have whats called a bad regulator IC. It really is not an expensive part but the labor to replace it will cost you most likely more then the set is worth. if the set is more then a few years old, yes buy a new TV set. Good Luck

Hi there Larry,

Hi there Larry,

I'm a new member, and I've been having some trouble with my Mitsubishi WS-55807. I noticed that you seem to be pretty smart with the solutions to everyones problems so I thought I'd ask you about my set. My in-laws have this this 55807 that they were gonna throw out. They said I could keep it if I can fix it. Apparently out of no where, the tv just turned off. After having it unplugged a couple days it would turn on for a few minutes then turn back off. If you tried to turn it on again it would power off immediately. I noticed that if the tv remained plugged in, after it turned itself off, it would start clicking inside real loud like machinegun fire nonstop until you unplugged it. So I have no idea what to do about fixing it. I checked the caps, and the fuses and they seem to be fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Take off the back and see if

Take off the back and see if you can see where the machine gun sound is coming from. Is it a high voltage arching?

tiggerpi said: My mom has a 1995 RCA t.v. Model#P52731WK. The elec. co. updated the meter. The t.v. was on when they did this. The power went off when they took the old meter out and came back on when they put the new meter in. This was in a matter of a couple of minutes. When the power came back on the t.v. made a loud popping noise and nothing else. The elec. co. employee came inside and unplugged the t.v. and waited a minute and replugged it. Nothing happened. Checked the breaker and it was fine. The outlet that the t.v. was plugged into is fine. Push the power button and nothing happens. It is as if it is not plugged into an outlet. Is there a reset switch? If so, instructions on how to do this? Or will this even help? If not what is wrong? The t.v. had no previous problems and has worked fine until this happened. I think there was a power surge when this happened, but no way to prove it and mom has no finances to pay a repairman because my dad passed away within a few days of this happening. The elec. co. says they are not liable. Go figure?? I need any assistance in what the problem is and an easy fix if there is one or the knowledge to prove the elec. co. is resonsible for this problem. Please help.

not sure exactly what it is but it seems to be coming from the main power board. I want to say its a solenoid. Its a very loud clack. Like that click sound a tv makes when you turn it on.. but non-stop and really fast, like its trying to turn on over and over and over. Speakers make popping sounds too like power is being put into them, then removed over and over as well.

Hi; new member and of course

Hi; new member and of course having a problem with Panasonic widescreen TV. When we turn it on, the light blinks green and when we turn it off it blinks red. I have unplugged it and still no reset, no sound, no picture, nothing. Just over the last week we were getting a replace lamp message but when we turned it on/off it would be fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

hey larry will the tubes out of a kp-53hs10 work in a kp-51hw40 just the red tube is bad in the tv

Larry Dillon
Nope, you cannot. The CRT MAY

Nope, you cannot. The CRT MAY, I am not really sure, but the optics on the lens and the mounts may be different. They use totally different tubes and part number. You can go to partstore.com just like I did, insert the model number then for the part you need enter CRT. It will bring up the different part numbers for each color tube for each model.
