Receivers and Audio Components

I recently bought a new RCA RT2390 home theatre system at Wal-Mart. I set it up in my dorm room at college. when I plugged it in, the on/standby button on the reciever came on. When I push the button, it turns itself off. the display is completly black, but I can still here the fan in the back running. since I got it, I have not been able to turn it on. please help!

I am trying to set up a Pioneer A/V Model VSX-D903S. No problems with the VCR, DVD, Tape Player and CD player, but I can not receive either AM or FM radio through this unit. The signals are there but with or without a powered antenna I receive just white noise on AM and nothing at all on FM. Another interesting fact is that I can tune the FM to a known live FM station such as 103.9 exactly. When I try to tune the AM to a live station such as 620 I can get 618 and 623 but not the exact frequency required.

I have a set of Sony speakers and on one of them the bass just stopped working completely, the treble still works but nothing else. I tried switching the speaker wire and changing where they were connected to my reciever but nothing happened. I was wondering if they are just blown or if there is something I can do. There is no bass at all, its not even rattling or anything. Just let me know. Thanks
