Video Playback / Recording Devices

I have a Compaq Presario X6000 CTO laptop and I'm sure I have a S-Video and VGA port on it. I wanna watch AVI videos on my TV instead of buying a DVD player that plays AVI files, problem is .. The sound is coming out of my laptop instead of the TV. Is there a solution to this?

I have a question i have a dvd transfer and i was transfoming vhs tapes to dvd i have alot and the some i had transfered i wanted to watch and it took awhile to load the small screen said loading and the the small dots came up like usual but it was take much longer to load i heard noises coming from the machine then after awhile it said invalid disc on the tv and on the machine fail or it might say data disc on the tv and file on the machine this has happened to 3 of my transfered dvds why does this happen and will all my disc soon become invalid discs what can i do please help????

I have a 'alba RDVD1002' recorder. I bought a couple of TDK non scratch dvd+rw discs. There was also a dvd+r disc which came with the recorder. All three discs worked ok until recently, but I'm having problems now.
1)I am unable to access two of the discs at all.
2)One of the other discs:- unable to program, as the menu just shows one item as recorded in a 'finalised' format - thus I cannot erase or record.
The recorder is working fine on the dvd+r format.
please advise
