PSVR73 vcr stuck in LOCK mode

I have a proscan plus gols vcr that is stuck in the lock mode and a tape is in the machine.  Unfortunately, I do not have the original remote and am using an RCA universal,  and all of my three weeks of attempts to contact anyone with an answer have been much less than successful.  I've tried a variety of things ending with unplugging the machine for several days,  but I still get the LOCK message when I turn it on,  then it immediately shuts off.  I use the machine to tape things for my grandson,  and he is very disappointed that his shows are not being t

AppleTV and AVI

What's the status on AppleTV and AVI files (or other non-QuickTime formats)?  I'm looking into adding a computer-to-TV component for a possible bedroom TV setup, and in my consideration of AppleTV, I discovered that it only support QuickTime video (unless hacked).

Surely I read something wrong and that can't be the case.  Say it isn't so!

Sony RDR-VX525 Recording Issue

I'm trying to help my uncle with his equipment.  Here's a quick profile of his equpment:

Sony RDR-VX525 DVD Recorder/VCR

Sony Bravia Flat Screen TV

DirecTV receiver

He claims that at one point, he was able to record one program onto DVD while watching another.  His satellite receiver is plugged through the DVD/VCR, then to the TV.

The DVD/VCR is set to video port #4, the satellite receiver is set to video port #6.

Sony DVP-CX985V Megachanger wont spin up DVDs

I have a Sony DVP-CX985V DVD Megachanger that is several years old.  I've been happy with the system however it started acting up lately.  It wont spin up the DVDs consistantly any more.

I opened it up and found that if I give the DVD a little spin with my finger while the system is clicking trying to spin it, it will occasionally catch and be able to play the whole movie.  But once it stops it can have a hard time starting again.

Powerpoint...computer to tv question

I run a Real Estate office, right on the square in a small "touristy" historic town. A unique feature of our office is our use of a 40in LCD tv in the window which shows a slideshow of our current listings, in a video DVD format. Its a great attention grabber and has proven to be an excellent resource in advertising and pulling in walk-in's.
