Television and Home Theater

The colors are off.   I had 2 new STK 392-10 chips installed by a friend and then I messed around a little in the grid settings from pressing mute then 183 and I made it worse.   I am not qualified.   I think me trying to adjust through the grid before chips were replaced may have caused problems.  So this TV needs work.   It works but colors are off. 

My loverly toshiba crt has a problem, ive noticed that the tv CAN display a perfect black pcture but when i have a source input regardless where its coming thru, there is a slight white trace at the top and bottom of the left part of the screen, not very noticable but i know its there for example on the DAB channels using ntl those of you who have this will know that the picture is pure black with the radio text, this is where it shows ??

I have never removed my screen so I don't know what to expect on the inside.  Here is my issue.  When I have a picture on my wide-screen that is light, such as blue sky and white clouds or solid white backgroud, I can see that my screen is darker in the middle.  The middle of my screen, where a 4x3 picture displays, is dark.  The 3 inch vertical screen area on the left and right are lighter.  The first thing I think of is the middle is used so much that either its dirty or some type of burning.  Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can fix this.
